Yeah, I went from high school straight into Bermuda Police Service for almost 8 years. Left there, opened a business with my brother-in-law. Left that, got my Associate's degree in Information Systems, but I've hit a ceiling. I decided that rather be one of those guys that does a certification boot camp and comes out with an MCSE and no clue, I'd get my Bachelor's- there's a few promising ones I've seen. After that, I can decide about further certs.

And yes, I was 28 when I went in for my Associate's, so got it at 30. I seem to do things in 10-year spurts. Smiley: grin

I know the thing about hitting a ceiling.

I've had my own business for those 5 years, on and off, and while I could live comfortably, spend half my time abroad and have a job that was kind of rewarding in many ways, I'd rather do what I've always wanted to do and thus I've started my 9 years of education for that last summer.

Probably got like a 90 on my IS test.

Now I'm about to take my OS test and its open book.

God have mercy on my soul.

I know many OS's. They all different but workable.

I have a mac. I love the OS. Easy to use and customize.

Unix/Linux based OSes are the same way.

I have been using Windows since 3.0 when it was a DOS bootable. I like it then. I think windows peaked with server2000.

Windows 7 makes me want to give babies a kirby.

Granted it is my roommates PC so I can't modify it as I would like but still. That is currently my impression.

Windows Server 2k was awesome even if it was a server centric OS. Best windows OS ever in my current opinion.

This is all too techy for me.

I know where the on switch is. And I can even plug it into the wall!

I'm just about to start my second year of uni (I live in aus, so our years are offset from yours by about 6 months) and I have to admit I feel the opposite to you.

I wish I could somehow go out and earn a few years proper full time salary just to make life a bit easier before going back to uni again.

My job involves moving involves moving millions (no lie) of small 1-3 kb files around. Windows OS absolutely abhors this. For some reason the OS bogs down, but the vendor's programs only work in Windows so I'm left with little choice.

Nothing like spending 4 hours attempting to upload data, only to have it fail, need to reboot the system, and spend 2 hours moving half the data in a smaller chunk.

Thank goodness we have a good programmer in-house, (and thank goodness he uses python, it's so much easier for someone like me, who has no clue, to read/edit source code in) so we've managed to automate many things. Just got 2 new instruments that should each generate 2-3 times as much data as our old one. Hopefully a new Data analysis computer is on the way. I got 16 processors doing 97 different searches this weekend; with any more than 1 search per processor bogs things down, we're a bit overtaxed...

I played my druid today, while being semi drunk.

Also, I love college, and University should be even better.

It was quite anticlimactic. Mostly just me swearing a lot over Vent and disconnecting every 15 minutes.

Yeah, the swearing.

ITT: Arex is addicted to WoW.

Couldn't make myself do anything boring in a game. If I wanted to be bored, I'd go find myself a job or something.

I've found a wine I like. Turns out my mistake previously was to not go for the OMG WHY WOULD ANYONE SPEND THIS MUCH MONEY wines. They are goooood.

At least this one was.

I've tried wine that others told me was good, didn't care for it.

Didn't care for the one or two beers I've had either.

I keep meaning to try something more straight liquor rather than something fermented but haven't gotten around to it.

What I've done to make my life easier when I'm grinding pirates is as follows.

If I push both left and right buttons on my mouse down it will make me run forward.

If I hit my button 3 button it will make me autorun.

If I press button 4 I have a macro bound to it that does this.

/targetenemy
/cast insect swarm

Then I pretty much just stare blankly at my screen killing things with just my mouse.

It's boring but I do it when I'm able to focus my attention elsewhere. Like today since my IS class is stupidly boring I'll be grinding with my druid.

So yeah I might be addicted but it's still worth it.

Arex the Insane just rolls off the tongue.

God, I juts spent the last three days completing Mass Effect 2 and I think it's made me temporarily insane. Not that I'm running around like a headless chicken, yelling that the end is nigh, but whenever I talk to someone, I'm expecting a multiple-choice box to appear when they ask me questions. Not to mention in the last 24 hours I've tried accessing my Saved Games option without luck.

I even replaced Kate with Yvonne Strahovski!

Our Holy Pally had to work last night, so we grabbed a different pally someone vouched for. We didn't get past Marrowgar...

-He couldn't keep the tank up with the one tank approach, so we axed that idea.
-He couldn't keep the pet alive when we pet-tanked it (Marrowgar doesn't use his cleave on pets, and no Chill of the throne debuff, so the incoming damage is actually quite low), so we tried the more traditional approach.
-He couldn't keep the tanks up when we 2 tanked it. In fact he did 1,400 HPS (compared to our holy pally who usually is about 2,400), I out-healed him on both tanks, in addition to handling the spikes and raid.
-We 3 healed it. He was below the disc. priest in output, and she mainly bubbles people.

I finally looked him up afterward on wow-heroes. Sure enough his gear score was high, about 200 higher then the pally who couldn't make it, but he still put out only 60% of the output. 60%!! I'm still stunned. Mp5 gems, and un-gemmed sockets? *sigh* Looking back I'm not sure he's adept at using beacon.

Anyway I don't think I'm letting my guildie 'vouch' for anyone anytime soon. Here's to a night of wipes on stuff we shouldn't be wiping on.

Yvonne Strahovski Smiley: thumbsup

Fine as they come, especially when she's dark-haired, blue-eyed, genetically engineered to be perfect and shooting stuff with an M-6 Carnifex Hand Cannon. Smiley: inlove

Mazra, people are complaining because you haven't logged on.

Not that I'm much better, but at least I'm on Skype so the guild can talk to me there.

Two weeks ago I purchased Mass Effect 1 & 2. I played through ME twice, the 2nd time a speed run making different decisions. Now I am half way through ME2 and really enjoying it. Except: -

1) Which moron decided that the resource gathering system would be fun? I've spent almost half my playtime so far scanning stupid planets to get enough resources for upgrades - hours of mind numbing crap play!
2) Seriously, it was two hard for them to program for the mouse wheel and double clicking menu options in the interface? ME1 had it.
2) They got rid of the hot keys for your journal & squad screen - ME1 I could hit J or U, in ME2 I have to hit esc then click on the button.

For such a fantastic game, it is tough to continually have these little things (2&3 above) annoying you and knowing it is likely due to a lazy port from the Xbox version - Bioware are NOT a company I would usually associate with lazy - all their games have had fantastic stories. ME1, ME2 & Dragon Age:Origins have all had literally hours of voice acting in them and the worlds/universes they have created are absolutely amazing in their depth.

The resource thing just confuses me totally.....
