That's probably at least a small part of it. He is pretty hot, even when he's playing a dirty pirate. Smiley: blush

I would argue that drowning sailors by luring them to the sea with your beauty, and sucking their blood are pretty different, but that's just me.

Still here. I've been reading the thread, but I've also been pretty busy with real life stuff.

Like, I'm actually going up to a cabin in Oklahoma this weekend with some friends, and I'm mostly looking forward to it as a break from work.

I'm missing the GW2 beta weekend, though. First world problems. Smiley: bah

No, it's probably not. Most parts are nothing but flat with the occasional casino. The area we're going to though is a cabin near a river with some kayaking. It's just somewhere to get away. So, fun times,

OKC is pretty awesome. And Tulsa is really pretty, but other than that, Oklahoma is pretty boring.

They're making a 4th one? I like the first and the third one, the second one not so much.

Already made. Also, think they're making a 5th one.

Milking that franchise for all it's worth.

On the same subject, there's pirate-type action in Assassin's Creed 3.

And it looks AMAZING.

Naval battles remind me, I should continue re-playing Suikoden V, but I don't have the energy to play any video games...

Also, more on the topic.

I loved the first Pirates of the caribbean movies, the next ones were alright, but not nearl as good as the first one.
Second best of them all was the second one, pretty much because of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, I really missed them in the sequels.

That did look awesome indeed, I'm thinking I will play the whole Assassins Creed-series sometime in the future.
I actually intended to start playing them about half a year ago, but then I got addicted to God of War (I love greek mythology) and now I'm in the middle of the third one and hopefully the 4th one will be out soon.

Be warned, if you care about the story then you have to slog through the first, which is significantly less fun than the sequels.

I always saw the character Jack Sparrow (sorry, there's supposed to be a Captain somewhere in there) as the main character and the character the entire franchise revolved around. Keira's and Orlando's characters were just characters added to fill out the story of the first one, due to Keira's character's involvement with the stolen treasure, and later the second one, due to Orlando's character's involvement with his father.

The third one was weird as it was basically just the second part of the first sequel, much like Matrix 3 was the second part of Matrix 2. Keira and Orlando were written out with the, in my opinion, brilliant ending to their story. Makes sense that future films would have Jack Sparrow as the central character.

Since the fourth film takes place somewhat soon after the first three, Keira and Orlando aren't in it. Orlando's character is still stuck on his decade-long duty on the Flying Dutchman, and Keira's character is busy being preggers and then a single mom.

I wouldn't mind seeing them again in the fifth film, but I don't have to. Their story has been told already. It's all about Jackie boy now. On that note, I want to see more of his dad. Keith Richards playing a pirate lord is just win.

And then I'd argue that "leading them to their death" doesn't necessarily mean just drowning, nor does it imply that drowning was where it ended, but that's just me. Smiley: tongue

Either way, the movies wouldn't have sequels at all if it weren't for Captain Jack Sparrow.

They probably got Keith Richards because he was old enough to tell them about what life was like back then.

Cuz he's olde.

I remember it being mostly flat, with lots of fields, and there were dead armadillos in the road. It was also hot and the car didn't have air conditioning. It that sense it was a lot like most of Colorado, and Kansas, and Texas, and that so on. Not on the list of places I want to see again before I die.

Kansas I'd go back to though, they had an awesome space history museum thing.

Okay, so I read this, early this morning, and am now oddly fascinated by these things. That scenery makes for some otherworldly pictures.

Is like I'm in Zangarmarsh or something...

I'd hurt him if he tried. And most of the beer I drink is quite a lot stronger in taste and smell than a pilsner, I think the kitty doesn't appreciate that.

People drawing exaggerated conclusions from a wannabee scientific report riddled with personal stories and trying to pass it off as fact make me violent.
People then blindly accepting this makes me even more violent.

And I'm not even a scientist, I can read pseudo scientific magazines and be entertained so it's not like I'm setting my standards very high or anything.

Hey gusy!

So, I'm sitting here, reading through my old posts, wondering how long it would take me to write the 20k character essay I have to hand in Monday morning for my written exam. Know that feeling? That overwhelming feeling of not wanting to do something that you know you have to do?

I think I'll have a smoke, open a beer and begin the tiresome process of discreetly, indirectly and textually disagreeing with everything my teacher claims is true. It's a slippery slope. I have to insult him and his peers without him finding out.

Ps. Footnotes are the suck. I hate having to put footnotes on everything. "Herp derp, I read this book and wrote this paper about it. So that you don't have to read the book as well and comprehend the context my paper was written within, here's a link to the page and line I based my qualified opinion on."

SUCK!
