I read it every now and then, but I really never needed it. I use reddit more for r/pokemon and r/watches than I do MFA. Mainly because the MFA advice is so bland and any variation at all from their style of dress is supposedly terrible.

And I'll be getting a couple different leather straps to put on it to make it more dressy (brown and black leather obviously to match shoes/belt when wearing a suit).
I'm no fan of the linked strap but with a nice leather strap that's a really nice watch.

SS straps always look terrible online, but better in person.

Of course if you don't like SS straps in general, that's your own deal. Smiley: tongue

This is my problem with MFA too, there's nothing on there I don't already know and if you've read 1 thread you've read them all.

Also r/beer ftw.

I still play, because pokemon is badass. I actually just got a DSi XL and a White cartridge to play because D3 and WoW are boring the **** out of me.

Why would there not be a r/wine? There's a subreddit for beer, whiskey, cigars and just about anything else you can think of.

I kind of stopped playing with Black/White. I just feel like they're really running out of ideas for some pokemon. The new ones all kind of start to blend together.

I realized today that my faith in science prevents me from being an atheist, as we cannot scientifically prove or disprove the existence of an extraterrestrial intelligence capable of creating life, which apparently makes me an agnostic.

Do I get to join a special club now?

We can't scientifically prove any of the major beliefs, but that doesn't stop you from believing in evolution or plate tectonics. Inference is a valid part of scientific understanding and study. It HAS to be, because you're talking about an epistemological problem, not a scientific one.

Take magic, which is actually a really good analogous example. The arguments against its existence are almost completely synonymous with arguments regarding god's existence. Ultimately, a lot of what you'd rely upon is an inference to the best explanation. If you are going to allow for this to give you positive beliefs (evolution, gravity), then you HAVE to allow for it in the negative (magic, God).

So, really, if you have faith in Science, then you shouldn't be considering yourself agnostic unless you believe there's something fundamental about God that renders humanity incapable from even gathering evidence. That's all agnostics technically are--they proscribe to a specific stance regarding the nature of belief/knowledge.

In its weakest (and most applicable) form, that is the stance that you cannot believe something unless it's reasonable to think that you could know it was true. In it's strictest form, it's pure skepticism--that you cannot hold a belief about something unless you know it, and that you can't know anything a posteriori.

In its strictest form, even science is considered invalid. In its weakest, your reasons shouldn't be sufficient to render atheism or theism unreasonable to accept.

Really, most agnostics consider themselves such because they are speaking about doctrine, not theism vs. atheism. It's actually a different discussion. In that case, you've accepted theism, but you don't think it's possible for you to know the truth with regards to specifics about god/gods and its will.

Black/White are pretty excellent games; I just wish they would cut back on introducing new pokemon. Rather than introducing an entirely new 150-200 new pokemon each generation, introduce 10-30 and make them excellent, rather than some of the garbage that has been thrown out there in the last few gens.

That said, I still trade a lot of old pokemon to new games. I still have my first Umbreon and Espeon because they were my favorites (and can completely dominate when used as a combination).

It doesn't, really. My faith in science doesn't prevent me from thinking that there are other lifeforms elsewhere in the universe, even though science hasn't proved it yet. Just because science hasn't proved something or disproved it (or even found any evidence one way or another) it doesn't allow or disallow religious beliefs. It depends on how you view the world, and that gets into philosophy rather than science.

Meh, I'm not completely gnostic (that would be pretty foolish) but I figure I might as well go with it, and Islam kinda works for me. Now I just gotta come to terms with the fact that I think it's more likely that Jesus was reborn in India in the 19th century than that evolution is a lie... Smiley: glare

Okay, there's the choice of saying both are false, but where's the fun in that?

I think we're saying the same thing, just in different ways, Theo and Digg. Because science hasn't proved or disproved the existence of deities, I can't dismiss the idea of deities existing completely, thereby making me agnostic rather than an atheist. An atheist is someone who completely rejects the idea of deities existing. If I do not believe in religion myself, but cannot reject the idea of deities existing, that makes me agnostic, right?

I guess, if we're being specific, I'm an agnostic atheist.

Edit: Crap, apparently I've got a written exam this week. Thought it wasn't for another week or two. Smiley: banghead

How do you lose track of your exam dates...? Smiley: lol

I kinda bounce back and forth between agnostic and gnostic. I'm agnostic most of the time and I don't pretend like I know all the details and go around judging people based on that. I can get into the right mindframe for prayers and that's pretty awesome. Although sometimes I start out my prayer and by the third unit I'm thinking about what's in my fridge... Smiley: rolleyes

Regarding my earlier post about work, turns out the software I was using assigns bonds based on distance of atoms. This results in silly things like O≡H (triple) bonds.

Kali is a @#%^ing language sponge. It's seriously ridiculous how quickly she picks up new languages.

Dutch doesn't count, it's easy.

My Urdu is ridiculous. I do pick up new stuff and get to understand more being here (thankfully), but then... my last conversation with the BF started like this:

Me: Yaar (Man/friend)
Him: Jee (Yeaah)
Me: Salaams (Yo Peace)

Smiley: lol

In conclusion, I can say nothing quite well already! I'm starting to always say haan instead of yes, and hain instead of isn't it, and hnnnn when I'm not sure what I'm going for.

My workmates are amused because I read random labels in Urdu/Sindhi sometimes.

Arabic is cool 'cause I can occasionally translate bits of the Qur'an based on the bits I already know by heart. Can't understand a bit of everyday Arabic, though...

Edit: Also, those sound amazing on you. Yaay.
