For those of you talking about WC3: What, no DotA love? I always got the impression that most people still playing WC3 were doing it because of DotA. Though, you can't really do it through Battle.net these days.

Also, I'm missing something. Was there a nuked Raw post in here or something that I don't see? I'm pretty sure you guys aren't talking about arguing with digg.

And Delinja, yeah, one of the selling points was that this game later on got very. very difficult.

Once again, you guys are taking this too seriously.
While I dislike the need to be online for D3, I understand it and I can live with it and really I've got internet pretty much wherever I am so I'm not concerned with not being able to play.
Honestly even if there was an offline option I wouldn't play it.

I'm having a blast playing the game, the difficulty scaling and overall polish is fantastic. I just got into Act III.

I'd play it when I didn't have internet access, or when Battle.net was down, which is exactly how I played D2.
When do you not have internet access but do have the time to game and a laptop with you? I mean, really? The only problem would be when battle.net is down but unless that happens a lot (Something I highly doubt) I don't particularly mind.

Quite a bit. Internet infrastructure here is generally far worse than in Europe. I can't comment on the Netherlands vs. US comparison, but I'm often places (with my laptop) that have no wireless or internet that's way too slow to allow for any kind of online gaming. And the internet availability at my parents' house, where I'll be living for the next few months, is terrible--it drops out 2-5 times a week (almost always at primetime). And because there's no competition right now, we're stuck with it. I'm going to miss my fiber optics. Smiley: frown When I can't play an MMO because of it, fine--obviously I shouldn't be able to. But when I can't play a single player game? Yeah, that would just **** me off.

Well this makes me happy. The difficulty, not your suffering. Well, maybe a little of both. Smiley: grin

I think I only played DotA once or twice, tbh. I primarily just play the campaign, because I suck at RTS games. My instinct is to build up the biggest, most-defensive base I can and then turtle it out. That's not exactly a good strategy in competitive play.

Also, what the actual hell? I suddenly want to play WoW again for reasons that make NO SENSE. Usually, I end up coming back to WoW because I want to experience more of the story, which WC3 has done quite a few times. Nope, it's not that at all here. I want to come back because watching my resources has made me miss ARATHI F*CKING BASIN. What? That's just weird. And I won't give in to such absurd desires.

Try LoL. Free, and they have a game type called Dominion that's a lot of fun and draws similarities to Arathi Basin.

I've tried the normal LoL map, but never played Dominion. It's... intimidating.

So I'm installing WoW. Not because I have any intention of coming back, but because I can play AB on a <20 character, and I've been wanting to try out my new computer on the game anyway.

Just suck it up already and resubscribe, you're going to do it anyway and in a few months you'll wonder why you subscribed again.

Now, DotA could be fun, except it's the most flaming and whining community I have seen in a while, or ever.
I tried it for the first time a couple weeks back, I was the first one to die in that match because some centaur and some satyrmidget ganked me.
Oh man, I got flamed so hard by the whole team, and after that votekicked.
Yeah I haven't played much since.

Yeah, I'm going to agree with you wholeheartedly here. The DotA (and LoL and HoN and...) community is one of the absolute worst I've ever seen. You need thick skin to play it.

Valve is trying to fix this with Dota 2, which has a report/commendation system and allegedly rewards for being awesome to people, but it still remains to be seen if it will work or not.

Probably not. I played for under half an hour last night before getting so bored I turned it off. There was a certain level of nostalgia, of course. And to be fair I had to start a new character, so it's not like I was picking up from my own account. Just doesn't have that magic for me any more.

I never found LoL community particularly bad, but I've never played a ranked match.

You don't need to interact with others too much in LoL.

Also, exams are finished.

Also also, what's up with OKCupid. First it suggests half the Beltane Fire Society to me - I know all these people are incredibly frisky, but it's still weird. Now it's gone over to suggesting roller derby girls to me. Two in one day. What are the chances...
