I showed it to my mom earlier, and she pointed out that since it started last summer, it's probably a reaction to my medication. So it's probably the Welbutrin. Hopefully since it's most likely drug related, it won't be permanent.

I wish it was still sunny though. I'm trying to increase my water drinkage, but with the weather so icky today I'm freezing. I even have a thermal shirt on underneath a tshirt, and I'm really cold. Guess I'll have to turn the electric blanket on and snuggle underneath while I do homework. And pray I don't fall asleep... because that's what usually happens when I try and read while laying in bed.

I hate bugs.

I'm only scared (witless) of spiders, but bugs in general just annoy the crap out of me. You can't have a decent picnic in the forest without some nasty bug finding its way onto your body.

They should do something about making them extinct one of these days. And I know, I know, some birds rely on bugs for food, but trust me, I can live without those birds, too. If I had to choose between a world without bugs, but also without small, annoying, squeaking birds that wake you up every morning at 5AM, regardless of which day it is, and a world with both in it, I'd go with the first.

Up until a few days ago, I thought I'd found the perfect home. Nothing but four floors of concrete, steel and glass. I've had my window open for the better part of three years and I've never seen a bug, except for the random fly that passed by. Then one night, as I'm about to go to sleep, I see this giant spider thing crawl out from behind the monitor. I scared that thing, likely with the fast drumming of my heartbeat that I'm positive my neighbors could also hear, and it instantly ran for my bed.

It took me over an hour before I could man up and kill the ******* so I could go to sleep. I had to get drunk first and high as a kite on nicotine. The thing was sitting on the wall just above my pillow. Couldn't just toss something heavy at it or I'd risk waking everyone in the near vicinity, so I had to get in close and dirty for the kill.

Did you know that spiders scream when you squash them softly? Or maybe that was just my mind going up in flames.

Almost four years this place has been my Fortress of Solitude, but now it's been tainted. They've found me. They got in. No matter how much I patrol the perimeter, they'll get to me eventually. Time to leave.

Well, once I'm done with school.

This.

The number one reason I liked our cat was it kept the mice and bugs at bay, that and she was fluffy.

Huh, my respect for Blizzard is just crashing into the ground lately.

This is pathetic.

Basically:

Say you find a nice item you don't need, so you toss it on the AH and it sells for $10. If it is a piece of equipment, Blizzard will take a $1 flat fee from that. If it is a commodity of some sort, they'll take 15% (so you get $8.50 in our example).

These funds are added to your Battle.net account by default. BN funds can be used to purchase items off the AH or pay for other Blizzard services (but they cannot be used for game time or the Blizzard store).

So, like any rational human being, you decide that you'd much rather have the money than buy items for D3 or some random WC services. You decide to transfer the money to a real account.

Now, Blizzard charges a 15% transfer fee. So you end up with $7.65 or $7.23.

Obviously, to buy that $10 item, some other person had to pay that out at some point. So Blizz is taking more than 20% of a $10 purchase.

Now take a moment to realize that spending $10 on an in-game item is actually quite insane. But maybe you'd be willing to spend a dollar or so? Too bad, minimum bid is $1.25. So let's just go with that--you sell some item for $1.25. Funny thing is, because it's a piece of equipment, Blizz still takes a dollar outright... So now you have $.25. And then they take 15% of that when you try and convert it to real money. So you end up with $.21. Blizz literally takes over 4 times what you'd get.

I understand why there are fees. This is a service that costs them money, and they want to make a profit. But THIS is ridiculous. I wasn't happy with the RMT AH in the first place. Points systems ALWAYS hurt the player. This is slightly better, since you CAN convert it back to real cash. But 15% is a crazy fee, especially when they are taking a cut in the first place. And establishing a system where $1.25 is the minimum bid is absolutely crazy.

Eh, I wasn't planning on using that to buy or sell anything really. I see D3 as purely single player and I have no interest in the multiplayer whatsoever so I really don't give a ****.

Well, I always played D3 in multiplayer. But that has nothing to do with it, really. This isn't really a rant about D3 at all, it's me being angry at Blizzard for how far they've fallen.

These I kind of get; the flat fee and the minimum bid. They seem to not want the RMAH to be someplace where there are millions of auctions on basic tradeskill materials, but instead a place where you can safely be rid of your 0.001%-chance-of-finding-epic-armor-of-awesomeness without getting swindled. Common items get traded with in-game currency, rare items with real-life currency, or something. They get to encourage that and make money. Win/win for them.

I cycle to work and for grocery shopping and just about anything I can do by bicycle so that's no concern for me and I do really appreciate not having to walk a dog three times a day because I know I simply can't be bothered to do that and I'd hate to take bad care of an animal.

Also, is the new puppy growing that quickly? Smiley: tongue

Walking a dog is all fun and games, until the rain starts pouring down and Fluffy needs to wee-wee.

That said, I love walking my parents' dog. Gives me an opportunity to light a smoke and pretend I'm being healthy.

If that was the case, then why are the commodities the ones without a flat fee? Blizz takes 15% of what a commodity auction sells for, but only 1$ of the gear auction (with a subsequent 15% on both to turn it into RM). So an auction needs to be for more than $6.67 for the basic things like potions and tradeskill items to cost more.

So yeah, the minimum bid for the items has to be 1.25. But commodities are wildly more profitable at that level than gear is. Over 4x as profitable.

*shrugs* can only speculate.

So that some of the better commodities will still go through the AH perhaps? I mean a minimum bid will keep the little stuff off of there. Perhaps they don't expect commodities to be as profitable as gear at a given point in the game? Some exploit that's not entirely obvious perhaps? They'll charge more for gear because they think they can?

I dunno, be interesting to see how much they end up pulling in through AH fees. Bet it blows our mind the first time they release those numbers.

This is all stuff they announced alongside the Real Money AH. I can't really recall if numbers were mentioned at the time, but this doesn't surprise me in the least. Hell, the whole "Blizzard Bucks" or whatever the hell their cash system is called is just another way to make money that is pretty much commonplace in the industry now. I wish it wasn't like this, but it is.

Eh, what do I care. I'm not getting D3 anyways.

*shudder* pretty close, yeah.

And I'm irritated about the Blizzard stuff specifically because they used to be the company that DID go out of its way to put the player first. Now they put profits first.

They always tried to make huge advances from one edition of a game to the next. SC2 is pretty much just a re-skinned, re-balanced Starcraft. Same with D3. Yeah, that's fine and it makes them money, but it never would have been good enough for Blizzard a few years ago.

And there are just a ton of other issues. Always on DRM? Penny-pinching business practices? Making significant content cuts to meet deadlines?

I always respected Blizzard as a developer, even when their games weren't my favorites. I SUCK at RTS games. I rarely play them. But they were polished and attractive for some casual gaming, despite not having the skill to get into the more competitive play. WIth the exception of D2, none of them would be making it onto my "Favorite Games" list. But Blizz used to be at the top of my "Favorite Developers" list.

To see them become just as bad and money-grubbing (or worse) as other companies in the industry? Yeah, no. I don't know if its the influence of Activision, or if they just got too comfortable with their huge profits, but I'm done.
