Well, he was one of the major players in England's takeover of Ireland, as well as a privateer. He was one of the backers for the Roanoake Island colony in Virginia, which was completely depopulated sometime between his voyages (and until recently, we didn't really have any clue what happened to them). He chased after El Dorado for sometime, and sacked Spanish settlements along the way. He was eventually arrested and executed, more or less because King James didn't trust him, and it allowed him to appease the Spanish.

There's also a good chance he was Elizabeth's lover.

That'd explain why the King didn't like him much. Smiley: tongue
Also, check /r/history, there's a link to an article about some old drama between the then king of England and a power hungry arch bishop. Might be relevant to your paper.

Actually, stronger beers like imperial stouts shouldn't be refrigerated. Of course, if you're drinking cheap pilsner serve it as cold as you can because then you won't have to taste it.

Expensive pilsners are also best served chilled. I prefer pale lagers and according to Michael Jackson (the writer, not the musician), pale lagers are best served well chilled, at around 7ºC, which requires refrigeration, unless you've got a wine cellar and live in a very cold country (my parents' wine cellar is not 7ºC).

Mostly, though, I prefer my beer refrigerated because it's more refreshing. Same reason I prefer to drink cold water.

There wasn't a king at that time Aeth, lol. Elizabeth ruled by herself. Smiley: smile

Yay exercise! I let my sister convince me to go hike the local redwood trail with her yesterday, and probably at least in part because of that, I was able to go for a brisk walk today by myself without any pushing. w00t!

True, the same goes for more beers. but I tend to prefer the heavy stouts and such. Although I've been drinking IPA's lot over the past few weeks. That pungent pineapple smell/taste really grows on you.

Edit: Pigtails, I was talking about the time of the drama, some 76 years ago.

Don't worry I rated you down a bunch of times to celebrate.

So is my country and you've got Mikeller, Beer Here, Olfabrikken and some other really good breweries.

IPA's are an acquired taste, like the more vinegar like sours, the Belgian yeast and the coffee/cocoa bitter of stronger stouts. IPA's took me by far the longest to get used to and now there's one more style of beer I like that is bloody hard to get...

A sobriety test in that it tests to make sure you're not sober so you won't notice how severely retarded the people in your BG/LFD group are?

I wish.

No, it tests whether I can operate my phone to unlock it, find where I put my ******* authenticator app, and then whether I can enter an 8-digit passcode.

And luckily, I can do that while fairly severely inebriated. I also won both IoCs that I played in tonight, getting an achievement in both.

I think I may need to play intoxicated far more often. Smiley: grin

Who knows, maybe you suck less when inebriated and you'll finally be able to get wrecking ball.

*Possibly NSFW.

Edit: XSARUS! Get yourself Brewdog's IPA Is Dead 4-pack if you can. 4 (75 IBU) beers with the same ingredients and recipe except that they all have 1 hop from a different continent. I'm drinking the HBC now and it's really ******* good. I mean seriously jummy fresh fruity melon and pear and caramel and omnomnom.

I never knew a house full of rugrats could be so much trouble. Turns out a little child's birthday is as much of an event for them as it is their parents. Anyway, as of this weekend I own a three year old, or the other way around. So yay.
