Honestly, I'm not even sure if I'm going to enjoy D3 much. I'm more or less doing it cause I'm a blizz fanboi and want to sell crap on real money AH:p. Also playing with other people should be fairly entertaining.

What sucks is that they got rid of both the Druid and the Necromancer. :( Yeah, I know the Witch Doctor is kinda fusion of the two, but it's just not the same as having a massive horde of minions.

Also, yeah I was looking for a source. I looked all over the Battle.net site and didn't see anything about beta access, so I was confused.

[EDIT]

I used to be a Blizz fanboi, but they've made more than enough missteps in the past two+ years to really void my confidence in them. There's a good chance I'll play D3, but I have no plans to buy the game. That starter version will probably be important in my decision.

You have no idea how awesome it is sometimes. Smiley: inlove

And then I go home and become the minion.

At least you're more reasonable than Square fanboys. There's a company that has been abusing their fanbase for decades and still has people frothing at the mouth at pretty much anything they release. I've been clean of my Square fanboyitis for about five years now.

I'm sure they'll add druid or something similar in an expansion.

I don't actually have the beta, I played it at a friends house. I kind of wish I could play a bit more, but at the same time, I'm happy that I won't get bored with it.

Hours of hacking and slashing through hordes of zombies with The Misfits blaring from the speakers and I'm a happy camper.

Yup. I put a Pandora station on and play. Demon Hunter is a ridiculous amount of fun even at level 9. I have yet to try another class because I'm so enamored with my DH.

Also, there's something hilarious about killing demons and zombies to a Frank Sinatra soundtrack.

I was never an SE fanboy, though I did (and still do) have some FF fanboy issues. But even those are minimal now. I liked FFXIII a fair bit, unlike many other people, but have nearly no interest in playing FFXIII-2, despite hearing nothing but good things about it. Probably will pick it up in the future, once it's cheap.

They DO need to get on top of FFXIII Versus, though. I want my dark mafia action-JPRG, dammit.

And completely random bit of annoyance--they are releasing the sequel to KH2 on the 3DS. And for that, SE can suck my d***.

The D3 beta servers were taken down--starter version thing was definitely an unintentional leak.

One of my issues with D3's gameplay is that each class has a "best" ability to use for primary and secondary attack. On every playthrough, I ended up going with something spammable on the primary attack and something ka-blewey for the secondary attack. In the case of the Demon Hunter, I used that ricocheting arrow thing for the primary attack and the machine gun arrow thing for the secondary attack. Spam one button until you can spam the other and done.

Also, and I'm not sure if they've fixed this yet, the click-to-move and click-to-attack mechanics are making me furiously mad at whoever came up with it. If you miss a fast moving target and click right next to it, your character starts moving to that location - right through a horde of baddies and whatnot. Either use the mouse for movement or attacking, not both.

I imagine your biggest issue with it is the always on DRM?

The DRM? You mean because you have to log in to play it? I'm used to that from StarCraft 2 and various Ubisoft games (except Ubisoft went full ****** with their DRM).

I think it's stupid that they're starting to demand a constant internet connection for single player games. Especially since the pirates are going to crack the stuff two weeks before launch anyway. I don't imagine the DRM will be my primary concern about this game, though, as I don't imagine I'll be buying it. I don't think I'll be "borrowing" it either, it just felt way too meh for that.

I said as much because I remember you raging about some Ubisoft game's DRM. Don't remember what it was, though.

I'll be using that starter edition to decide if I want it.

Maz, if you hold down shift, you won't move and just attack. Comes in super handy as a DH (and also you can generate hatred outside of actual combat so you can spam Rapid Fire).

Also, if you don't want to spam abilities, stick to console RPGs. WoW and D3 both spam abilities.

That was really to be expected, it's the exact same thing in D2 (And D1 I imagine but I never played that)

I don't mind spamming multiple abilities, but just two gets boring sorta fast.

Didn't know about Shift, though. That'll make life easier. Smiley: thumbsup

Well, took the boyfriend back to his shuttle bus yesterday. Smiley: frown We had a lot of fun while he was here, so I'm glad about that. Just wish he could have stayed longer than three nights. Or that I could have gone home with him...

We went out to karaoke at the skeeviest bar in town on Tuesday night, after play practice. A few of our theater friends do that on a pretty regular basis. They swore up and down it would be calm, because nobody goes there on Tuesday. Well, there were two people there with birthdays, and their friends were there with them. There were several fights that almost broke out, one of my friends was nearly accosted by a bunch of dudes sitting outside the bar, trying to tell her that she shouldn't have married her husband, how he was a loser and she would be better off with one of them. So, neither one of them were too thrilled with that lol. Then one of the drunk dudes tried to strip up on the karaoke stage while someone else was singing. But other than that, it was a lot of fun. I hurt my voice though. One of my friends did Pink's song So What, and I got so excited I started yell-singing along with her. My throat still hurts, but I've been trying to help it along with some lemon juice and honey in hot water. Hopefully that helps.

Sigh, D3, sigh... I don't remember any other game that made me so excited then so completely drained that enthusiasm during the "ramp up to release" period. Hell, even SWTOR waited to disappoint until well into the release gameplay. The demo was just so..... meh. Combat in a spammy RPG should feel stompy and fast-paced. My last play of the D3 demo did not feel like that. I even went back to D2 just for comparison and that felt more "action-y". Maybe I'm crazy...

Glad you had a good time PT. Hopefully you two will figure out how to be in the same city at some point =)

In other news, knowing brewers is a good thing. A friend of mine (with whom my lady and I have dinner with about once a week) just put in a Green Flash Stout keg from his new job. Nomnomnom. Getting low-fills and growlers from most of the better brewers in town is making me fat and happy. Huzzah!

Did you play the part up to Blood raven? Because if you think that was more exciting, I think you need to get your head checked.

wtf... who rates people down in this thread? Seriously?

Oh, and I forgot to mention the funniest part. A few weeks back, a guy I graduated with came into work, and we talked for a bit. He was actually really nice, and friendly. Not that he was ever an outright **** to me in high school, but he wasn't ever nice to me either. Then on Tuesday, he was there at the bar. John had gone into the smoking area to talk to one of the guys, and I was sitting in a booth with a few other people. This guy comes over and sits next to me and starts getting all gabby. Then his friend comes over and he's all "Hey do you know this guy? He's my buddy!" I have no idea who this guy is. After a couple minutes of me and my theater buddies looking at each other awkwardly and trying not to laugh, he and his buddy get up and leave. Then later, he comes back by again to talk to me, but John is sitting with me, and he looks up at the guy and puts his arm around me, and the guy gets a funny look on his face and then walks away. I didn't think anything of it, but John and I talked about it on the ride up yesterday, and he's positive that the guy was coming over to hit on me and that he scared him away. I find that very amusing, lol.

Well,t hat's what it sounds like to me.

I think we can all agree that the D3 beta isn't enough to decide if all the gameplay is lackluster or not. It's just too short.

That said, I'm going to stick to "not picking it up for a while."

I went ahead and greenarrowed everyone on the page, just because.
