Never had it, I have yet to see a unibroue beer actually. Then again, I can get Westmalle Tripel in pretty much any grocery store and Tripel Karmeliet and St Bernardus Tripel in the nearest bottle shop so I shouldn't complain about the availability of great tripels.

It had been bugging out for me. Sometimes when I open up photos they're covering half my screen. Pain in the butt really. I see myself all the time, rather not stare at my big head on the computer

And thanks Dig! =D

Yup. I listen to the gay dude that works at Nordstrom, especially when it comes to jeans. I tell him slim or relaxed and what color shoes I usually wear (black) and he figures out the rest.

And one of my bosses is the best baker ever; he's gay too.

No idea if they're related but it's a funny coincidence.

Came into work this morning and figured I'd try the photo out... definitely is much smaller. I think it may be my computer settings that's making it humongous. Anywho... Thanks Theo Smiley: grin

I love cooking. I just made a coconut milk and pineapple curry that's amazing. I think I probably put too much heat in it for most people though.

Or not enough heat... I think the only thing I have eaten to where I've FINALLY met my match is the Triple Atomic wings at Quaker Steak (which is at 500,000 scoville units). I can handle the regular Atomic wings though. But mmmm curry. I love curry.

I'm a wimp, so no way I can do that. But one of the famous wing places on shore near me has some ridiculous wings. They take a standard hot sauce, add a ton of dried cayenne and habanero. Last spice is a decent amount (and I mean that) of a habanero concentrate that's over 1 mil scoville units (pepper spray's count).

They choose whether or not you're allowed to order them. Smiley: lol I'd guess they end up in the 700-800k range.

The Restaurant has been open for 20 years now, and is decently famous (was on Man vs. Food for its wings a few years ago). They have a challenge--a dozen wings in 15 minutes. And the only rule is no leaving your table--you can drink beverages or use dipping sauces. Only 4 people have finished it. Smiley: lol And this place is packed for a good 5 months a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I'll stick to my pathetic medium sauce. Smiley: wink

With your avi, I keep thinking you're laughing at me while you're replying.

Anywho, I think I may have seen that. I like really spicy foods, but I'd at least like to be able to taste the stuff. The triple atomic sort of tastes like red hots at first with a slight sweetness, then it hits you hard.

Don't think I'd want to try anything hotter though. More power to the people that can do that stuff.

Southern Tier's Oat is good stuff.
Also, whoah 10.8% ABV... I thought it was a regular oatmeal stout with 5-6% (even while drinking)

I realize I'm responding to something like twenty posts ago, but I can't be assed to go back a page just to quote it so you'll just have to deal with it. That being said, I always knew there was sexual tension between Pan and Hook.

Those are really nice cups, and I'm sure I could find a use or three for that box, but I couldn't justify paying that kind of money for it.

I have yet to see a single bottle for less than €30 though, and the beer is apparently so good that it's worth it.
Still, that kind of money for 4x75cl is painful.

Eh I'm willing to dish out serious money for a good scotch, but that also lasts me a long time. A bottle of beer will not last longer then an hour at best, so had better cost an appropriate amount.

Well, you get 3 glasses out of that 1 bottle, so that's €10 per glass. Plenty of scotch that's way more expensive, plenty of wine as well.
And I've paid €7.50 for a bottle of Westvleteren 12, so yeah...

145 euros would buy you a pretty damn good bottle of wine (or two). Sea Smoke is one of the best bottles I've had in the 6 years I've been drinking and while it's normally $300 in restaurants, it's about $80 (when you can find it) on wine auction sites.

I've had some damn good beer, but I doubt you can convince me that there's better stuff out there than the stuff I can get in a 12-pack (Widmer/Pyramid Hefeweizen, Smithwick's, etc). Maybe I don't have the taste for beer that I do for wine, but...

I appreciate the hell out of beer, but I don't think you'll ever convince me that 10 euros a bottle is a good deal. I'd make an analogy out of watches or cars, but I doubt I'd get my point across or that the beer drinkers would appreciate it. Smiley: tongue

I love wine, not as much as I love beer though. I can tell a good wine from a bad or mediocre one and I do regularly get to drink some good wines since my mom is into wine and has a cellar full of it. Still, I'd take a beer over wine in most cases.
Also, try Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen. And haven't you said that you live in/near Chicago? Because if so get Brian Boru Old Irish Red by Three Floyds. (And any other beer by Three Floyds, really).

And I think that saying you'd pay $80 for a bottle of wine but paying €10 for a bottle of beer is a bad deal is kind of silly because it's so similar. Different beverage but good beer is as much worth paying money for as good wine or good whiskey, it's just that wine and whiskey are more established than craft beers.

Also, a quote by the late Micheal Jackson (The writer and beer and whiskey connoiseur, not the singer)
"People say that if you don't drink you live longer, well that's not true, it just seems longer, that's all"

I live in Seattle, which is a bit of a drive to Chicago. I grew up in Chicago and I go back occasionally.

I think what it comes down to is that I appreciate beer, but I don't go out of my way to get it because it doesn't taste good enough to me. Craft beer (at least in this part of the world) generally doesn't taste great.

That, and I live in one of the best wine areas in the USA. Chateau St Michelle (and Alexandria Nicole, etc) is almost literally in my backyard (5 minute drive) and produces some of the best wine in the world.

Also, my mom is a rabid wine connoisseur. She has cellars full of the stuff. Yes, plural. She stores wine at my aunt's house in Chicago in addition to what we have here in Seattle.

We had considered installing a wine cellar into our basement, but then decided it'd be better to convert it into an apartment and charge $1500 a month on it and just buy the damn wine the times we actually want it. Besides, while I love a good drink, and the wife type person does occasionally, we really never drink enough to justify the kind of cost investment it would take to set up something like that, wine or otherwise.

Oh, absolutely. I agree. But people have hobbies, and my mom's is her Porsche and her wine.

That said, if I had the money, I'd totally have a wine cellar.

Holy crap Theo, you look like a completely different person without the devilishly sexy goatee. Your ex really is pretty smoking. It's too bad that so few people that are that attractive have intelligence and personality to go with it. I think I'll stick with being a 7 (that's what I'd rate myself anyways) who is smarter than most, and has an awesome personality.

I really need to take some newer pictures of myself. I've lost almost 20 pounds in the last three months, and it'd be nice to have some better pics up on facebook. My avatar has been a picture of my cat for too long. Pet week was well over a month ago, but I don't feel a particularly strong urge to change my avatar back to me with fat face. But here's a picture of me from the last time I weighed about what I do now. My hair is a lot longer now, and my skin isn't anywhere near that clear. Proactiv is the ****. I really should use that stuff again.
