But were they removed before you drank it?

Well yeah, obviously. You can't drink woodchips and they wouldn't fit in a bottle either. But the beer has aged for a year with the woodchips in it so you can taste them (and the cognac they were soaked in)
I've also got an imperial stout that's been aged with oak chips and cocoa and one that's been aged in old 4 Roses barrels.
I just want a stout that's been made with bacon now.

And Horsemouth, who doesn't?

Horsey, is this anywhere near you? Because that's ******* awesome.

We have beer & whisky testings in our School (due to hosting like... the world's best Brewing and Distilling postgraduate course).

For some reason all this talk about woodchips and barrels has made me think of cooking something with Marmite. I don't even like Marmite.

Ah, yes, Marmite. The Brits went ******* a while back because we wouldn't allow them to import it to Denmark. Was talk of boycotts and whatnot (but then how would they get their bacon?). Marmite has B-vitamin added, which means you need a special approval to import it.

Personally, I can't imagine eating something that was removed from beer.

You mean tastings? Cause if so, go to one? There aught to be more than just Brewdog in Scotland as far as beer is concerned.
#13410 Mar 04 2012 at 1:58 PM Rating: Good
Yes, tastings.

And, uh, I can't really drink beer anymore. Like, ever.

We do have SO MANY ALES, though. Also, Crabbies. But th tastings are all Heriot Watt beer...

You did something wrong then, beer is too good to not drink.
#13412 Mar 04 2012 at 2:13 PM Rating: Good
I dunno, I used to drink it like, what, once a month? once a quarter? Maybe once a week sometimes. It's not like this changes anything in my average day.

I couldn't fit it into my schedule, anyway. I have like 2-3 afternoons a month off, and chances are I'll have to get up early the day after anyway (70% chance early will mean between 3 and 7).

Not like one or two beers means you can't get up early anymore. Plus, alcohol is good for you as long as you don't drink more than one glass a day, or two if you're male.

Looks like the interior of Kauai so no. We get that here after heavy rains and I can see it from my lanai. So yes and no.

It was titled something-or-other-falls, so I'm guessing it's a permanent thing and not near you then.
Still awesome if you can see similar stuff after heavy rainfall though.

Also, thread title needs to be Beered Druid Thread or Bearded Druid Thread. Srsly.

Dude, do you know who you're talking to?

Two beers can get me drunk.

Geez, how'd you get such a low alcohol tolerance?
#13420 Mar 04 2012 at 6:26 PM Rating: Good
I'd say by not really ever drinking, but my dad's an alcoholic and his tolerance is still ridiculously low, so I'll go for genetics.

Although, two beers only make me drunk if I've been fasting or something. Still. I've got enough trouble getting up before sunrise as is.

Unless you drink Brewdog's Sink The Bismarck, with 41% ABV two of those will get you drunk if you're not fasting. Smiley: tongue
Either that or their Tactical Nuclear Penguin that has 32% ABV.

I'd actually try the penguin if it didn't cost €45 for a 33cl bottle...

I just bought Lagavulin 16. Awesome, but very expensive.

I don't want to get into whiskey for that exact reason, no way I can afford it.
Beer may have some rare brews that cost 50-150 euro, whiskeys go so so far beyond that.
#13424 Mar 05 2012 at 2:05 AM Rating: Good
You also don't just drink a bottle like that...

True, but you need to drink a lot of beer before you've spent 100 euro. Roughly forty great beers and you don't get that many glasses of whiskey out of a single bottle.

BEEEEEEEEEEEER! Brasserie Dupont's Avec Les Bons Voeux is a seriously tasty saison. I can't wait to pair it with the goat cheese filled chicken with honey sauce I'm planning on making Sunday. It's just begging for a good cheese to go with it.
