Lol @ me right now, though. I'm at my parents' house for the weekend, because my niece's b-day is tomorrow. But I'm so irritated that all I want to do is party my stress away (and I never really go out drinking on weekends). But, instead, I'm sitting at the kitchen table, drinking red wine, and listening to Adele.

Nothing wrong with drinking and listening to music when life got ya down.

I do like me some red wine.

That's good. Chances are her school has some kind of QSA she can get involved in.

And it was mostly the Adele part that was pathetic. :P I like her but by god is her music depressing.

I also think I need to stop now, lest I face questions about the amount I drank in the morning. I just started to get buzzed, and it's my third glass. I hate having a stupid natural tolerance...

I blame my ancestors. Irish, Scottish, English, and German (with a little bit of French).

The answer is always enough.

Three glasses and a buzz is not a natural tolerance.

That was supposed to say fourth... Or maybe not... In any case, I just finished my fourth. And I'm pretty sure the last 3 happened in a 30 minute period. :P

Also, one of my close friends recently came out as a lesbian, and has been slowly telling more and more people she trusts. She's always been involved in a church down here, and she told her youth group leader, who, along with a couple others from the church, proceeded to lecture her about how homosexualism is a sin and she's going to hell.

Note, these are the people that she grew up with and helped her through some significant life crises. So she was pretty much in complete shock that they would say that instead of accepting her.
It never stops to amaze me how people can do this, like the person who just came out suddenly transformed into a totally different human being instead of the person they have known and liked for years.

Also, reddit has a lot of LGBT subreddits in case she needs/wants to rant to some anonymous people who have gone through similar things.

There's blues and doom, 2 musical (sub)genres based around sad, depressing songs. Those songs also tend to be the songs with actual meaning (See Pink Floyd's I Wish You Were Here for example), so yeah, listening to sad songs isn't pathetic.
Also, listen to this. After that Adele won't seem so depressing anymore. Smiley: tongue

Well, that was slightly terrifying.

I just got woken up at 2:30 in the morning by six firetrucks outside my house. The house next door had caught fire, and had pretty much turned into an inferno. Our first reaction was to GTFO, as our house hadn't caught but being so close to the neighbor, it was a distinct possibility. So everyone, including the two six year olds grabbed what we could and evacuated to a friend's house a couple streets down.

Thank God it was raining. That and the trees between the houses probably saved our house, keeping the fire from spreading. I'm posting this almost two hours later, with the house next door having pretty much turned into a smoking crater. The firemen said they're going to be around for a couple hours more doing damage control. The house next door is most likely going to have to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up, but the worst we got was everything smelling like smoke.

It sucks for your neighbors, but it's great that you and your family are okay.

Oooh. Glad you're okay; are your neighbours hurt?

Uggh, weird problems. Like having a baby set herself down on the prayer mat with a religious book in the middle of my prayer; I just lifted her up and set her to the side, but had to try so hard to not laugh (laughing makes the prayer invalid). Meh. Then I got confused because my new compass seemed to show me Makkah was in the opposite direction, but it turns out I wasn't using it correctly.

Know what still bothers me (though it shouldn't by this point)? When people rate you down for the weirdest things. Plenty of posts I make, I make knowing I'll get red arrows. And I'm fine with that. Ones I didn't expect a downrating, but can see why someone would have disliked them? Fine. But sometimes I just can't imagine why anyone would have had a problem with the post, and when no one even references them in a negative manner, I'm just lost.

This. I don't mind the loss of rating (because, honestly, it doesn't matter at this point), but it annoys me when someone dislikes something and doesn't explain why. Especially since I've got a feeling it might be due to a language/culture barrier thing.

But... meh, the rating thing is kinda pointless anyway. I mean, what's the purpose? Spammers get reported and nuked regardless of their rating, and I'm the curious type who reads down-rated posts to see why they were down-rated in the first place.

The red arrow is like a silent "NO U!" I think it hurts more than it helps.

The red arrow is mostly just so you can satisfy your desire to call Gbaji or Alma an idiot without the risk of ending up in a long winded semantics argument.
