To be fair, I'm already resolved to overtake my two classroom friends' grades (they are the two people I talk to the most by a long shot and they both got a 90% or so average this semester).

The thing is, I anticipate a 10% drop between this year and graduation, and both of the postgrads I'm really interested in are super competitive (read: accept 20 or so students and prefer non-EU students). Which means I need more than an A average to get in, and I'm currently not really achieving much more than that. I'm taking into account that I skipped a year, but that still doesn't mean I won't have to work harder.
There are a few other viable postgrad options, but they might be even harder to get into and will actually put me into noticeable debt.

I've tried estimating my debt for my undergrad and for this year, I should be able to keep it below £1000; my total student debt caps at 10 grand anyway, but I'd like to keep it lower. Say, under 5k.

Other thing: So it's my flatmates' wedding anniversary today and they told their friends that I got all these A's and one of them has decided that I now need to take all of them out for a meal. That's at least 20% of my spending money for next month gone, and I need to pay for my Pak visa... ugh.

When the waiter/waitress comes out with the bill, tell him/her that the meal will be on separate checks. Smiley: sly

That'd just be mean.

I also learned that if you follow the rules by the word, my favourite charity isn't viable for zakaat (Islamic "charity tax" type thing). Mehh.

Note to self: Coffee with my ADHD meds is a BAD idea. My heart was racing at about 120 beats/second until about 3:30am. And then my mom woke me up at 9am. -_- I didn't drink the coffee that late either, it was about 5pm by the time I finished it. Oh well, not doing that again.

And them saddling you up with the bill because they think you should take them out to dinner isn't?
#12507 Jan 14 2012 at 6:12 PM Rating: Good
I'm with Aeth. Just because it's your roommates' anniversary doesn't mean it's your responsibility to take them and a bunch of their friends out to dinner. They do know you don't get more financial aid if you get good grades, right?

Just tell them you can't afford to take out all of them. Maybe you and their friends could split the bill, that way the happy couple still gets a present on their anniversary and you don't go broke.

Yeah... my mom keeps trying to offer me drinks despite me telling her repeatedly that I'm not supposed to drink while taking these.

And you know, I figured the coffee thing wouldn't be that big of a deal, because I've had antidepressants that said not to have caffeine or alcohol and I did anyways and it was fine. Since the coffee had such a strong reaction, I'm hesitant to see what alcohol will do. =x

Mm, bacon.

Think I'll go make me a recent favorite dish of mine: egg and bacon on a bowl of pasta.

It has nothing to do with their anniversary, it's to celebrate my high marks. That's kind of a normal thing with Asian people and I get invited to a lot of their parties.

They decided on McD anyway, so that's cool.

Re: MPH and Alcohol - ADHD meds will make you super resistant to alcohol. As in, you'll be able to drink a lot more without getting drunk.
#12519 Jan 15 2012 at 1:31 PM Rating: Good
That has to do with alcohol being a depressant and caffeine a stimulant, while the ADHD medicines are also stimulants, right?
#12520 Jan 15 2012 at 2:20 PM Rating: Good
Oh okay, that makes sense. Well, I'm a lightweight to begin with, so I doubt it'll hurt that much lol. That could be interesting.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think most ADHD meds are derivatives of Cocaine. I know Ritalin is, but I'm not sure if that's what your taking or if it's something else.

Eh.. riiiight.

Edit: Mazra, why do you have to edit in more videos? Now I'll be watching more weird **** instead of listening to Finntroll sing about trolls blowing up saunas.

Yeah, it is. I'm taking the generic of Ritalin, but Adderall (Which I was taking the generic of before) is made out of very similar stuff as well. There seem to be a lot of misconceptions about ADHD meds in the general public though. There is a difference between ADHD meds and street cocaine. Smiley: tongue
