No, I get what DPS is. Believe me, I spent a good two years near the beginning of Final Fantasy XI trying to convince @#%^tards that the Dark Knight doing 100 damage per hit every two seconds is doing less damage overall than the Monk doing 60 damage a hit twice a turn every one and a half second.
The title just doesn't make sense. You are not damage per second, you are doing damage per second. I am a runner, I am not a miles/kilometers per hour.
Oh, I do understand your meaning.
I'm just saying it's easier to say DPS and DPSer and not say Damage Dealer.
In a place, time, situation where everything gets acronyms, even more if you are dealing with adolescents as a majority of your controlled population, it's kinda expected to see things like that.
In the end, it's easier to say DPS or DPSer and get the meaning across the board easier than to say Damage Dealer. Besides, it's a sticky word.
If you think about it, if you stick with your racionalization, calling tanks as Tank is quite wrong too. I remember when that wasnt used at all (before MMOs and such), it was more "meat shield" or something. It's just that everybody started calling it like that one day and it's like that since.
