Only if your current camera is a Nikon D3s or D3x.

Although Hollywood might have a couple laying around. They're using em as throw away cameras to film explosions and such with.

So anyway Xsarus, what have you been photographing lately?

I'm currently spending my time looking at trees, flowers and more landscape stuff.
So far the results are fairly pleasing though.

Oooh I like the road one Aeth, the lights are really neat looking.

I took a train from Eugene to LA two years ago to go to a Green Day concert. IIRC, it was a 28 hour train ride. That sucked balls. Especially since we only had a two day break in between the train rides. It was cheap for sure, but really aggrevating. Although... that's an idea for Blizzcon. That'd make the trip a lot less expensive.

The highway will be a set of 5, all of the same place but with different light circumstances.
This one is probably the most fun since a 30 sec shutter speed and a highway give a pretty cool effect. I'm not too crazy about the composition though.
In the end, I think I like the other 3 photos in that post better.

Too bad there's so much light pollution there. It would be awesome if you could have that same photograph with the Milky Way in the sky...

There's very little light pollution there, you just won't be able to capture stars and car lights without massive overexposure on the car lights. The contrast is way too high for a camera to capture.
Not to mention that with a 30 second shutter speed you wouldn't be able to capture stars very well anyway because they move quite a bit in 30 seconds.

A theatrical performance on puns is nothing more than a play on words.

Stupid lights are always ******** things up. >:(

There's a ton of light pollution here. There's less in my hometown, but it's still super hard to see the dimmer stuff in the sky (and you can't see the milky way). Though recently they built a church near my house that has its steeple lit up ALL THE TIME, so the amount of stuff you can see from the backyard has dropped significantly. Stupid Christians ruining my night sky. :(

At school, I can see very, very little. Jupiter and other (close) planets, some of the brighter stars like Sirius. But that's it. :( But one of the darker campuses has a huge telescope on top of the astronomy building. I got to see Jupiter and 4 of its moons last semester--very, very cool. <3

I actually adore astronomy--if I were able to go back to freshman year, I'd seriously consider going that route instead.

And my love of cosmological objects leaves me torn where I want to live. I am definitely a city person, but you can't see crap at night from them. :(

Low buildings and limited street light makes it less difficult here.

Still, it's nothing like when I went with my parents to their house in Sweden. No street lights or towns for miles around. The sky went from being black with a lot of white dots to white with some black spots. It was crazy.

You could literally see a cross section of the Milky Way arm we're in. It was this broad, white belt in the sky.

Quite an overwhelming sight. It leaves one feeling somewhat insignificant.

Eh, majoring in astrophysics is for people who either already have a useful degree or don't actually want to find a job.

It's really interesting, but the job market for the field is one of the worst in the world. You'd be better of doing archaeology.

Yeah, but archaeology is one of the most depressingly boring fields in the world. You THINK it would be exciting, but it's just all digging up pots and stuff.[e] And that's if you are one of the lucky ones. It's MOSTLY just being hired by Walmart to make sure that the site they want to build on isn't going to get them bad publicity, because it has archaeological significance. And a lot of that is... lying to say it doesn't.[/e]

If I had done it, I would have double-majored in physics with the intent of going to grad school in one of the two fields.

Found a dim sum place near work, was awesome as I had been craving it for a minute. Had Lo Mai Gai, baked manapua and some pork hash.

Was awesome.

A good friend of mine is a Ph.D. candidate for anthropology at UCSD, and he's doing a lot of archaeological type things with it. It does sound kind of sound boring though. He's doing something with bones and dna... I forget what specifically. But it interests him and that's the important thing.

Also, Miley Cyrus is pretty cool.

Watch the link, trust me. It's hilarious.

I'd love nothing more than to beat Miley Cyrus' face in with a Mandolin.

Actually, that's a lie. I'd prefer to hit Trump with a car. And drop Kesha into acid. But only slightly more...

That's why I don't listen to radio and don't watch MTV etc, it severely limits the amount of terrible crap pretending to be music that I'm exposed to.
Another reason would be that I could listen to a couple of weeks of music without hearing the same song twice. (If you don't include live versions anyway Smiley: tongue)

Maz, you need to find a good Dim Sum place. You will have no idea what anything is called but it wont matter. It is all delicious.

I had to google Lo Mai Gai as I can never remember the name. Its the bomb though.

I <3 sticky rice.

I actually do like Asian cuisine, but it's pretty expensive to eat out over here, so I rarely get it.

And I can't be ***** to make it myself.

That is the joy of Dim Sum. It is a crap load of little personal things that are like a dollar each. My meal I referred to earlier cost ~6 bucks and was around 1.5 meals of food.

I don't think anything costs the equivalent of one dollar here. I'd have to find a really sleazy joint to get it that cheap and then I'd honestly rather inject saturated fat directly into my heart with a syringe.
