I study English lit because English is the only language I know and I love reading. I actually do find the language and its history to be pretty interesting though. English takes and borrows from so many other languages, with vocabulary and grammar rules, and it's interesting learning about that. The great vowel shift that occurred during the Renaissance is pretty cool too.
