Sucks, but good luck sorting it out. Smiley: smile

On a completely different note, I've sort of begun a minor crush on Florence + The Machine.

Running a random netradio in the background while playing is awesome. I've found so many new artists I like in just the last two weeks.

Lessons I've learned so far from the new patch: Starfall should still not be used when you're using CC, and also during the last boss fight in BRC. Also, from what I've seen in the one dungeon I've run thus far, Wild Mushrooms is still not worth using. I'll try it in another few dungeons first before I completely make up my mind though.

No Internet in the new house and it's gonna be another 9 days or so till we get it, and there is no Facebook, Alla or IRC from college! :(

I am in Nottingham, now, though, and it's lovely. INTERNETS

If you just got that, I'm really jealous. I based my entire portfolio on close up photography, but it just didn't feel right without a macro lens. Also, 1:1 macro ratio is win.

Edit: I realise I'm not Aeth, but he probably won't show up until tomorrow. Silly Europeans and their timezones.I really wish I was still in Scotland.

I just bought the canon version. The reviews of that lens are amazing. Apparently they consider it a great price at the original price.

http://photo.net/columns/mjohnston/pentax-35mm-lens/optical-discussion/ (The pentax is the same lens, they OEM'd it)

I'm going to Scotland the week after next \o/ and moving to Scotland for Fringe with a few people. You /need/ to come to Fringe.

If I get my business stuff going finally and get a bunch of A*s, I am going to reapply to every GOOD uni in Scotland (except Glasgow), i.e. Edinburgh and St Andrews. Also Oxford.

Slow reply cause I'm too busy with school to really check Zam much Smiley: grin
And it looks nice, I don't really know much about either Tokina so I can't really comment on the lens aside from the stats looking nice.
What did you buy it for specifically?

And Rio, if you're interested in macro photography it's probably worth it to pay a couple bucks for a coupling ring so you can mount two lenses on your camera (one flipped over on top of the other) so you can get way beyond 1:1.

I got it because I've wanted a macro, and it's a pretty incredible price for the lens. Sure, you have to get really close to get 1:1, but it's not that bad, and I have my 18-200 which does a decent macro for wildlife. So far I've been pretty impressed with the pictures. I'll probably upload some to picassa and I'll link that here.

https://picasaweb.google.com/112121793403919768786/MacroFun?authkey=Gv1sRgCJe4pfCf5qC9Cw&feat=directlink

My current upload speed is horrendous though, so it's taking forever to upload the pics. There's a few that I'm uploading that aren't super awesome, but they're mostly ok.

Get a reverse ring* so you can mount your prime on your camera reversed to get way beyond 1:1.

Or even more fun, two primes together with the second reversed for really scary super macro.
A classmate did this, more or less, by simply holding a prime against his own lens reversed and took some pictures.
In the pic he took of his laptop screen, the individual red, green and blue lights of the pixels were magnified to about 1cm height each Smiley: grin

Also, for uploading a size of 1200x800 pixels is large enough and not as demanding.

*They're pretty cheap, ranging from $15-40, the problem is finding them as they're very specific niche items that only macro photographers will ever use.

Edit: also check out Thomas Shahan's website, he has some absolutely awesome macro photos. (mainly of spiders, for the arachnophobes here)

It's not that I'm afraid of spiders, I just prefer to see them decorating the bottom of my boots.

Gratz and post more Astarin.
And I don't understand what's so scary about spiders, especially that one as it's only about 3mm large if I recall correctly. I'm mostly just fascinated by spiders anyway.

Okay, I have no problem with spiders but that picture was just down right creepy. If it wasn't so close up it probably wouldn't be so bad lol.

I used to play with spiders when I was a kid, sadly I'm not that comfortable around them now. I'm fine as long as they don't touch me though. Oddly enough, almost every boyfriend I have had has been an arachnophobe. It's been fun and amusing saving them from spiders. :D Thankfully they haven't been nearly as afraid of spiders as my mother. She will literally go into hysterics if one "sneaks up" on her. It's really ridiculous.

Spiders are evil and must die a fiery death.

In other news, I can now successfully heal regular dungeons. To a point where I take great pleasure in letting people die if they stand in fire, knowing I could have healed through it no problem.

When I was a kid I got bit by a spider. My chest got all red and swollen, and my parents were calling doctors and such. Scary stuff for a 7 year old. Oddly enough I have no fear of large spiders; I can hold a tarantula with no problems for example. But give me something creepy crawly on my neck, and I'll swat at it hard enough to leave a mark.

When I was younger, I had some episodes involving spiders that left me scarred for life.

1. Was mowing the lawn at my parents' house when I noticed something that looked like wool stuck in some bushes. I went to pick it up, only for it to "explode" all over my hands. Turned out it was a spider nest and a million or so tiny spiders crawled all over my arms, under my shirt and everything.

2. A while later I woke up in the night with a tickling sensation on my chin. I brushed it away, still half asleep, thinking it was a strand of hair tickling my lips, but noticed it had a slightly different texture. I turned on the light and the first thing I saw was a spider on the wall right next to my bed. Then I felt the strand of hair crawl away from my mouth.

3. A year later or so, I went to my room in the evening and wanted to turn on the light. I knew where the light switch was, so I reached out and grabbed a fist-sized spider instead. Turned out two spiders had taken up residence on my wall.

4. Later that night, having only captured one of the spiders, I saw the other move behind some cardboard boxes as I went to bed. Just before I fell asleep, I swear to god, I heard one of the boxes move.

Spiders, when they manage to corner me, suffer a sudden and violent death.
