I completely forgot that druids used to only have a combat ressurection spell, remembered today whilst looking up the name of Revive and can't believe I forgot. Must add it to my list of things which the youth of today have never had to struggle with.

What about Arial Black? What's so bad about Arial? Other than it being "cheap" and all that. It's a pretty pleasant sans serif font, to be honest.

I don't think it's suitable for a full paragraph of text or anything, but as a menu and/or a single line of text it's great.
It's basic, clean and simple which is why it works so well.

What's wrong with it according to Kali is, I think, pretty much that it's Arial and it's a very common font.
It is probably over used and used as a cheap solution a lot of the time, cheap solutions also tend to be terrible so I'm willing to bet that 9/10 times Arial is used in a logo or something it looks awful.
What Kali fails to see is that the reason behind why it's used is different between that and what I'm doing and she's only seeing Arial=BAD and offering other solutions just to not use Arial.

And while it is true that if something is commonly associated with cheap and crappy it doesn't matter anymore if it's used well because people still have that connection, I highly doubt that many people have that with fonts.

I think we need more font choices here. Then SeNtEnCeS like this could be MoRe AnNoYiNg, as I CoUlD throw in something like CoMiC sAnS every other word. Good idea yes? Smiley: tongue

okay that seriously took forever to type..

The thing is, I don't think Arial is per se particularly intrusive or whatever, it's just that even people who like it tend to go with, say, Calibri, because it doesn't have the connotations.

And many people probably wouldn't notice what font you use. Many would probably think it'd be cute if you used Comic Sans. Some will notice and it might impact their decision.

As a totally-not-in-the-slightest-way-involved-with-art kind of person:

I dislike Arial because it strikes me as uneven; the general shape and flow of each letter into the next doesn't feel fluid. The characters often look like they're just a few pixels away from bleeding into each other, and it feels cramped and more "wall of text" as a result.

However, the sample shot aeth put up doesn't look bad. I have certain opinions about it, but he didn't ask for them so I'll withhold.

That said, aeth, the stigma is a valid one if you're planning to use this page as a portfolio of your work, as it may work against you if someone who cares about fonts (and there are more people like this than you may think; they didn't make a documentary about Helvetica just because someone had money to burn) is reviewing your work to give you a job. Just food for thought.

People looking to give him a job won't care about his font, they'll care about his photos.

They may care about both, it varies. I just brought it up as a considering point, not specifically a reason to change it.

Arial's spacing isn't something that is set in stone; Calibri has technically the same issue, if you don't choose to change it manually. Unless you meant something else.

And really, something being posted here is pretty much open to criticism, this is the Internet! :P

Seems silly that I have to pay more for a digital copy. It costs them less to make.

The few bucks extra that you pay for the digital download you save from not having to travel to the shop.
Also, extra playing time!

But mostly laziness.

Maybe it's different in euros or whatever weird coin you Danes use, but it's $39.99 for the digital DL or the retail version of Cataclysm in USD.

Ran my first Cataclysm dungeon today. As Kitty, which was awesome, because I was top DPS by a lot.

But I was facepalming my entire way through, because we all heard how Cataclysm is the end of AOE and such, right? The first mobs we engage are 10+ elites. Some of them died in basically two (Kitty Swipes), but others took some focusing.

Good thing our Bear Swipe isn't trash, huh?

Why must so much caster gear have Stam, Int, Crit, Mastery? It's like someone stole the plot from a bad movie and did a remake. There's not much suspense and you know the ending is going to be trash.

Oh and welcome back Arex. Smiley: grin

I know that was a rhetorical question, but I'll play along.

Because it's easy. Spirit makes it healer-centric, hit makes it DPS-centric. Sticking to just the four shared attributes lets them spend less effort making sure that everyone has enough gear for them. And no one QQs about how Blizzard likes the other type of caster better than them.

Is it just me, or does your Wild Growth spell also seem to heal for less the more levels above 80 you gain?

Mine currently crits for 200, which can't be right. That's in healer outfit with 3k spell power.

I'd still trade for some haste, it seems rarer these days.

Yay for reforging I suppose. Smiley: smile

Did you replace your 2t10 bonus, or is it just worse overall?

Guys, do you know a decent IDE for C++ writing? Don't say Eclipse. It took me two hours yesterday to even get that piece of annoyingness to start up and now it won't compile even though I tried every fix I could find. So, a different one.

I successfully wrote some code that took my laptop considerable amounts of time to get through and decided to switch languages because I really don't want to take ages sitting there waiting for my computer to sort itself out.
