Yeah, really not my kind of movie and I hava a very hard time imagining how anyone could enjoy that movie.
In my mental image the people who enjoy it are probably just dead or in coma.

Well that's good. Reading with that kaleidoscope of colors going on was making me grumpy. Lord only knows what will happen if Maz ever makes sage.

Not to derail the randomness of this thread, but do we have any sort of threat reduction tool? I'll admit I'm a bit spoiled from playing my mage and having three or four of them, so I am having some issues stealing threat from tanks in heroics. I've only died a couple of times because of this though. So far. >.>

You have cower, but that's hard to use if you aren't already in cat form.

I'll use Shadowmeld or Nature's Grasp depending on the situation. But you don't seem to be a Nelf, so scratch the racial idea.

Your post confuses me, Pigtails.

If you're geared well enough to pull aggro, you should also be geared well enough to just switch into Bear and tank stuff. Or at least buy you a couple of seconds extra. Smiley: grin

I'm now sure if Cower is still in the game. That used to be the Kitty threat dump, not that anyone used it.

Edit: Oh, you're a Boomkin (atrocious!). Well, guess you're out of luck. Heal and heal some more. I tanked Oculus as a Boomkin.

Cower is good now!! It is a 10% threat reduction you can use every 10 secs!! It's been nice not having to call for a salve when my omen starts screaming at me :)

That's why I'm dreading Sage. Because of my post count, it's going to be so easy to tip me back to Scholar and then back to Sage again. I don't think I'd remain sane if my colors changed every other post.

If you are a moonkin, all you have to do is watch your threatmeter. Sorry. :(

Bah, that seems unfair. Mages have a crap ton of threat reducing abilities, and Priests have Fade at least. I don't know about locks, but Boomkins should get something.

Would it be possible to switch into cat form and use cower in the middle of my rotation, or would that not work?

Depends. How much would dying mess up your rotation?

Switching to Cat Form and casting Cower takes one, maybe two, global cooldowns and then you're back in Moonkin form.

#showtooltip Cower
/castsequence reset=5 Cat Form, Cower, Moonkin Form

Spam away. Click twice.

Note: I haven't tested this macro, I just made it on the go, so it might not work properly, but theoretically it should.
Edit: Removed the [stance] things as you probably don't need them with !
Edit2: Removed the !, but you probably have to only click it twice, or it will take you back into Cat Form.

Okay, I'm going to have to work some more on that one.

Edit3: Maybe it'll work now, though you still shouldn't spam it.

FINALLY! The above works, though you have to click it three times. If you are not within melee range of the target, it will only put you into Cat Form and pause the macro until you move closer. If 5 seconds pass by and nothing happens, it will reset the macro. This was done to prevent it from breaking if you manually switch to another form halfway through the macro.

O.o If I have to click the macro three times, wouldn't it just be easier to use my keybinding for cat form, then move forward and hit cower and then use keybinding for moonkin form? Don't get me wrong, I appreciate you taking the time to make and test the macro, it just seems easier and less confusing to not use it.

Then again i'm not all that experienced in using macros. In the past I've just used them to blow cool downs on my mage. I'll give it a try though. Do I have to click on it three times BEFORE I move?

The first time you click it, it puts you in Cat Form. Unfortunately this triggers the GCD, so it's not as effective as I thought (hence all the edits), because you have to wait for the GCD before you can use Cower. Second time you hit the macro, it will cast Cower, if you are within range, otherwise it'll just do nothing until you get within range. Once it's able to cast Cower, it will then put you in Moonkin Form the third time you hit it.

The only actual useful thing about is that you only have to press one button. Instead of going <Key 1>, <Key 2> and <Key 3>, you just go <Key 1>. Makes it easier to spam, especially if you're moving in from a distance since you might not be within range when you hit <Key 2> and might end up hitting <Key 3> before you get off Cower. But yeah, I'd probably go with just using the existing hotkeys. Stance macros like this one is mostly useful if changing stance doesn't trigger a GCD, since you could just hit one button and do stuff at once.

In your case, actually, you'd probably be better off just halting your rotation for a moment and doing a bit of kiting. If the tank doesn't taunt the boss before he reaches you, he's bad and should go away. Tell him I said it. In AOE situations, War Stomp is superior since you just stun stuff and it dies before the stun breaks.

If you happen to be a nelf, you can shadownmeld and hope to not get hit by AoE stuff and watch the mob get back to the tank. Leave shadowmeld when the tank threat surpass yours again.

Saying Shred glyph is bad and then turning around and talking up the importance of Rip confuses me. You're indirectly buffing your most important attack while getting to use your hardest hitting CP generator...seems win-win to me.

Shred glyph is only bad because it makes syncing Rake and Rip harder. As you want to get both of them up when under TF as the damage buff is not dynamic. But you still don't want to clip bleeds more than you can help it. Having Shred extend Rip makes the timing even harder to align. IF TF was dynamic then yes Shred glyph would be awesome, without the glyph they usually would fall within the duration of the TF buff with the glyph they don't.

With feral DPS being highly bleed happy for damage, especially when pushing mastery as you should be, getting the two bleeds buffed with minimal clipping is a good thing.

After we start leveling again and our crit rating goes into the ******* things may change but for now with the ridiculous crit you probably have a CP generation rate that is high enough to make extending Rip not as high of a priority compared to getting extra DPS from the TF buff.

The same logic works for not taking the TF glyph.

SR may be white hits only but we're still trying to keep the buff up all the time right? I can't imagine 10% damage on Mangle (which you only hit 1/min) is going to beat out +5% white damage.

As pure Kitty, yes, the SR glyph wins, but as lolferal you also use Mangle while tanking. Quite a lot, actually.

I know that. But 10% damage on a tank doesn't mean a whole lot in terms of rdps.

The whole argument is moot anyway since you can just carry plenty of vanishing powder and replace your glyphs anytime you need to switch from bear to kitty Smiley: tongue

Maz's argument is for fights when you only have to tank for parts of the fight. Which is the main reason for using the lol spec as you can have a healing or ranged DPS off spec which is more versatile in the grand scheme of things. Especially with 10 man raiding being pushed these days by Blizz.

Tanks and DPS will still be gemming (and potentially reforging) differently so I'm not too keen on the idea of one set of glyphs for every contingency; I just set them up knowing that, for the most part, I can probably switch gearsets if someone leaves and still fill one of those vital roles without spending time prepping or having to hearth and then get summoned back.
