A few shaman questions..Follow

Personally as elemental, for questing, I would use whatever gives me more stats. As for the heirloom item, the piece (is it shoulder?) that gives a 10%XP bonus is pretty nice.

Don't think caster shields exist at that level, but you'll start seeing them around level 60. There are caster weapons, but most tend to be staves, but there may be some daggers around that level. Around level 60 you'll see some caster maces as well.

The reason why people recommend enhance until level 60 or so is due to the lack of good caster mail and weapons/shields. You might be able to find some stuff with int on it, but so much of old world stuff has useless spirit on it. I'll never understand why blizz put spirit on so much gear...
