Panic MacroFollow

With this toon I'm a 62 Disc Priest and I am thinking about a panic macro.

This macro assumes everything is on cool down.

/cast Power Infusion
/use 14
/cast Inner Focus
/cast Prayer of Healing
/cast fade

14 is the Vengeance of the Illidari trinket in the second trinket slot.

What happens if one of these is not on cool down. Does it stop or just go on the then next cast?

The situation is that I am doing PUG Ramps and BF, often with a bunch of DKs. Normally it is an incredibly easy healing job, so I don't really need any instant spell power add ons.

Then someone does something incredibly stupid I'm healing everyone, aggro and we wipe.

I think this macro might be the solution, but if not this...what?

It won't work like this. You can only add 1 spell to a macro, unless the spell doesn't trigget the global cooldown (Inner Focus is such a spell).

This exact macro will first cast Power Infusion on the target, then use your trinket and then give you three "Can't do that yet" error messages.

If you insist on having multiple GCD spells in a macro, you have to use a /castsequence macro. For more info on that, look here. I can't recommend a castsequence macro for a panic situation though. If you want to stick with a normal macro, you have to remove spells until there is only 1 GCD-using spell left. Something like for example this;

/use 14
/cast Inner Focus
/cast Prayer of Healing

I recommend taking a peek at Idrownfish's post in this other topic though, it has some additional lines to optimize the macro.

I have only tried to macro IF and POH. The macro I use is:

#show Prayer of Healing
/cast Inner Focus
/stopcasting
/cast Prayer of Healing

You can add the trinket line above the stopcasting line I think. I haven't tried to add power infusion but I'm pretty sure this initiates a global cooldown and therefore cannot be macroed in. It is because of GCD also that the fade command will not work. POH is a timed cast and a macro will only cast things that can be done in an instant sequence. The stop casting kind of "clears the memory" otherwise you sometimes have to hit it twice for it to cast both spells.

I use this when everyone is taking damage and then once the heal lands I fade if I need to. You can also cast PW:S before you hit the macro to get the extra haste which speeds it up although you will have to wait a second for GCD. I have never used power infusion in this situation. I tend to either throw that on dps or else wait until I need to land a few fast spells in succession, to keep grace up for instance or quick heal a tank. In this situaion then I cast PI followed by Penance, Fh, Fh. If health is dire I throw a shield on first or sometimes a pain suppression.

Macros of this sort have to be aware of the gcd. Inner Focus and most trinkets do not trigger the cooldown. They are safe to use within a macro like this. Fade, Power Infusion and PoH all trigger the gcd and cannot be used with a single keypress.

You can use a castsequence command and spam the button to accomplish something similar:

/use Inner Focus
/use 14
/castsequence Power Infusion, Prayer of Healing, Fade

This macro has some obvious flaws. Using castsequence with spells that have a cooldown renders it unusable until the cd expires. Also, the errors from trying to use IF and the trink on subsequent presses will remind you that they are not ready yet. (*edit It also defeats the purpose of using PI to speed up the cast.)

*edit I was looking for Idrownfish's post, when I realized Moz had already linked it. I am just too slow on Mondays...

Can you cast a macro?

If I name a macro "PANIC" that looks like this:

/use 14
/cast Inner Focus
/stopcasting
/cast Prayer of Healing

Then I could:

/castsequence Power Infusion, PANIC, fade

And then just spam that until all three have triggered.

Or even hold off on the fade.
