Based on my previous post on improving my healings in instances has paid off very well indeed. I am still working on it but its surely a big improvement to my healing skills and I want to thank you all for the help you have given me. Now I am asked to heal in instances without a need to do a LFG. I just kept running and running the same old instances eventhough I have completed them just to get myself fimilar with the fights there.

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/class.html?wclass=3;mid=123712416318974199;num=27;page=1

So far I have successfully kept the grp alive in one piece in nexus, UK, Old kingdon and the other instance.(Name doesn't come to my mind but its the next one to the old kingdom.

I have managed to get almost all of my gears changed and did the necessary enchants since I have some gold to spare.

My next question is to what stats should I aim for to ensure running heroics eventhough its abit early but I would like to know. The information would prove useful for me to think ahead. I have linked my armory again for you to see and comment in which areas I should be improving on.

Once again thank you very much for all the help rendered to me and I'm grateful.

Cheers

First of all, I'm glad you're having fun healing!

This is just my opinion, but for heroics, your spellpower is way low. I'd want it at 1500 for Holy, minimum. Your mana pool is also slight; I'd try to push that closer to 15k. I'd focus on gearing, gemming, and enchanting for spellpower and intellect, with maybe a little spirit. Your mana regen is right around the minimum I'd want to start heroics, and your Holy crit is sitting at about 17% which is lovely to start - in a heroic you can eat/buff for it to push it over 20%, which can make for some really fun runs.

Tailored gear isn't what it was in Burning Crusade, but it's still a quick and easy way to start building a heroics/Naxx starter set. I'd look at the Moonshroud Robe and Gloves for sure, and probably the Light Blessed Mittens and Aurora Slippers as well. All are bind on equip so you can get them even if you aren't a tailor.

Oracles rep is incredibly easy to grind and they have a decent belt at revered that has more spellpower than yours. I'd attach a belt buckle to that and gem it for Int.

I'd also suggest you get a decent 1H weapon (Tuskarr have a decent mace and that's another easy rep grind) and then either pick up the Prison Manifest at the auction house or run heroic Violet Hold til you get it.

Personally, I reckon that level 74 is a bit low to be starting heroics. As Teacake said, I too would recommend you get to about 1500 spellpower before you go there. Your mana pool would also be a concern, and I can think of quite a few heroic encounters where you would struggle. Basically do what Teacake said but I think you'd also be well served waiting until at least level 78 when you have some higher ranked heals and some better base stats. The upshot of this is that there is also some decent gear to be had from a number of quests on the way, particularly in storm peaks if I remember rightly.

To crash your dream altogether, you're better off waiting 'till 80 with heroics - you simply can't enter them before the magic ding =P

As for stats at 80... You'll want around 1400 spellpower. I had 1300, 1500 self-buffed at the time but think I could've done most heroics at 1100 or even 1000 spellpower. As Holy, you'll currently want around 700-800 intellect and spirit, which should bring you to about 500mp5 outside the 5 second rule. 20% crit chance is a nice number to aim for as holy, but you can do heroics with a number as low as 8% as long as your other stats are on par. I think you'll want either about 15% crit or around 7% haste, though I personally vouch for crit.

Just a couple of quick observations on your gear. Hit Rating for a healer is wasted itemization points. I'm betting that the necklace was an upgrade to what you had previously, but it is something to consider as you progress toward 80. I had the same back as you until I hit 80; Never found any better. (I'm sure there were better out there, I was an instance junkie for most of the 70's and never got a drop to replace it.)

You will also want to keep an eye on your mana regen. As you level, Blizz actually reduces your regen ability from spirit. It isn't earth shattering, but when you come across an upgrade that entails losing some spirit in the process, you may want to keep this under consideration.

I have a big problem with one piece of gear. That Common White Shirt has to go... you're a priest for crying out loud, there's nothing common about you!! ;)

Yeah, okay, so mebbe I should learn to read numbers, ya think? Smiley: lol

OP, I did not notice you were 74. But the gear I mention is still some pretty good starter stuff to grab at 80.

You know, I locked my car keys in my trunk today, too.

Edited for Trylofer: all self respecting priests keep shirts in a variety of colors in the bank, so they can match their robes. We really should put this in the FAQ. I actually carry, in my bag, at all times, the shirts that match my PVP/PVE gear, so when I change I can still look good.

Wait? you can see the shirts through the robes? I haven't worn a shirt on any of my toons in some 200+ levels... usually take it off as soon as I am done setting up the UI on a new toon.

Some of them are low cut or have that weird cut-out middle thing, or weird sleeves. A bare midriff is one thing on a belf but it's not so appealing on my undead.

Thank you guys, I may have given you guys a wrong impression that I want to run heroics now. Actual fact its a big big no for me. What I wanted to know is to ask for what would be the minimum stats for example spell power, crit, mana pool and mana regen which you guys have already said here.

From here I can start working my way there. I am surely not fit for heroics yet. Anyway I got the Moonshroud Robe and Gloves already in my bank.

Also with regards to geming and enchants what would be the recommended gems and enchants for my gear to run heroics.

BTW I'll look for a better shirts :P thank you for pointing that to me. Didn;t know you guys also look at shirts to make a priest feel good :P

Thank you once again.

Cheers

I think the nice thing about gems is how easily (and unless they're epic, cheaply) changeable they are. Plug in whatever you're short on at the moment. At first I was gemming for int like crazy because my mana pool was balls, but once I got a couple of upgrades I started doing spellpower/int instead. Take a hard look at socket bonuses - sometimes they aren't worth it.

The WoW Gem Finder is a nice little interface for searching for gems with the stats you want.

As far as enchants, I stick mainly with the usual intellect, spirit, and spellpower, but I do occasionally throw on my PVP boots with Tuskarr's Vitality (which includes a slight run speed increase) for fights where I have to be particularly mobile.
