PVP: arcane magesFollow

So... PvP...

Doing the Grizzly PvP dailies I'm learning a lot of do's and don'ts about kitty pvp. I can take down ally warlocks pretty easy, and I'd give myself decent odds against hunters and shaman.

But one of my friends plays an arcane mage and when I try to duel him, I'm lucky to get him to half health.

My tactics are to pounce out of stealth and get a few mangles in before maiming. After that, the mage usually blinks, and slows so I shift to bear and back to cat, then feral charge and by this time I am dead (usually mid-air haha)....

How do we beat these pesky arcane guys?

p.s: Incidentally, if anyone knows an instant way to turn your character 180 degrees, I would love to know it. :)

honestly, the best (and really only) way to do it solo is to get them without their CD's. in a duel thats kinda tough seeing as you have a limited area to work with, but in world pvp, if you get the jump and you see them blow cooldowns (specifically arcane power) hit travel form and start running. once you get a decent distance away, HoT yourself up a bit, get back into cat, and start stalking them. now, without AP to fall back on, the arcane mage is much less dangerous, and should be a much tastier/easier meal for the enterprising feral.

oh, and as for insta-180, press and hold left click on the mouse, rotate the camera so it faces behind you, then press and hold right click. your character will begin running in the direction you set your camera. this works for any direction, even while moving, so you can be running in on direction then turn your camera all the way around (or 90 degrees, or 130, or whatever) and begin moving in that direction instantly.

Arcan-Mages are not that hard.

Just use your cooldowns of how to get to him and your stuns wisely
- Don't feral charge if not slowed or if he hasn't used blink.
- Don't stun if blink is not on CD (except for the opening pounce)
- Use the time of a stun to cyclone, regrowth and restealth.
- Work with bleeds (he cant heal and if u have a hard time getting near him, this is the way to go)
- use his Iceblock to restealth
- Powershift > Slow in important moments (not possible over the whole fight, but it will bring you near him if needet)
- DON'T ***** UP AND MAKE U HAVE THE OPENER

Thats about it :-D

If he puts up his trinket or any other self-buff, don't forget barkskin and bear form. In bear, self-buffed, I have over 30k hp. Tossing on barkskin will mean that, even if he puts out insane damage, you still have at least a third of your health. You can also use Feral Charge to lock out the arcane school for a little bit.

Careful though, because I believe spellsteal can take barkskin. Adds insult to injury.

I like to start by insulting their mother, then I move on to their skinny little chicken legs. After that I'll talk about how me and their girlfriend used to date.

Usually at that point they start randomly spazzing and popping everything they have. I like to shadowmeld to drop target, which pisses them off even more.

They'll spam arcane explosion/frost nova wasting that extra spellpower on nothing and killing their mana. I'll mention that time I spent the night with his sister.

I'll switch to bear and bash while emoting my /hump macro, fitting since I just mentioned their sister.

At this point they tend to blink away from me, so I just feral charge them as they start their next arcane spell.

It's funny to watch them jump in the air trying to run away from me. I'll switch to kitty and mangle/rake their face/*** off.

When finished I'll calmly sniff around the body and then proceed to mark my territory.

Oh wait, you said a "friend" who plays an arcane mage....

Sorry, can't help you there.
