Prot PvP gearFollow

Having had some grat battles at lower levels as a Prot Pala in AB and WSG, I'd like to repeat this at 80. Unfortuantely, it seems that Blizz has completely neglected to include PvP gear for prot palas.

I figure I would need a mixture of resi and defense/avoidance, although how much of each I don't know. I figure crit is a wasted stat, as I'd never have enough to make a difference anyhow, but the ret PvP gear I have has it on.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to gear a prot pala to be successful in battlegrounds?

keep your PvE gear and put a healer in your pocket. if you wish to use your PvE spec, you will be eaten alive. if you want to be a successful Prot in BGs you will need the talents to reduce debuffs on you. gl

Since the original post, I took a wild chance on some of the blue gear I could put my hands on (and a lucky epic from VoA).

I'm currently having some degree of success with my PvE spec, just because I am still pretty dastardly to kill. Mages can still take me apart, DKs and warriors just fall at my feet. I'm keeping much of my tanking gear (belts, rings, bracers, etc); while picking up the Emblem PvP gear - aiming for 2 ret pieces and 2 holy pieces. That way I get 2x50 resi bonuses, plus saving up for resi trinkets etc. All in all, I have 400 resi and counting; not as much as the epic arena types, but certainly enough to hold my own in many fights.

As a side-note, I am NOT doing arena. Rather, I'm fighting in battlegrounds, where an Avenger's Shield daze on the flag carrier, or the ability to survive a rogueing are pretty useful traits.

It is quite amusing going into BGs as Prot and seeing the confused Ret Pallies, Warriors and Deathknights (and dont forget rogues =P) that try to take you on 1v1, realize your invulnerable to melee then try to run off on you. It's no where near as viable as Warrior Prot (there free charge and spell reflect are pretty awesome in PvP) but it can still be very fun.
