I need advice on Tanking Mods – Mainly for UI issues.

I have Several Mods:

Omen – No need to explain.
Quest Helper – Turned off during raids.
Recount – I just like to know to check on DPS (Enrage timers? Is someone coasting?)
Auctioneer – Turned off during raids.
Cartographer – I like the Maps when I press M. Kept on unless Lag.
DeadlyBossMods – No need to explain.
Rawr – Turned off during raids.
GroupCalendar – Gets me to the raid/sets it up – Turned off during the raid.

From a UI perspective – I really need to clean things up. I have the standard 2 bars on the bottom, 2 on the right. Map is ok.

What is the UI that puts partial circles on the sides of the center of your screen. (Sorta like Brackets ( me )

How do I make the combat text flow around those brackets – So it’s not flowing through the middle of the damn screen?

Can you recommend some Cast bars that show mobs casting?

What about something to announce failed taunts in a raid?

Anything else I’m not thinking of – please feel free to point out.

You're UI is one of the most important things when playing imo so I'm glad to help.

I don't know exactly what you mean with those brackets, are they hp and mana bars?

If so, you're speaking about Dhud, or Drathal's Hud.

There should be some relatively simple addons around for the combat text issue, found this one after a bit of searching, according to wowinterface.com it has tools which should let you move around the text.

As for your third problem, there are two ways to solve it. Either you use Dhud, which let's you set a cast bar on top of one of the partial circle, which would represent the current mob's hp/mana.
You could also use xperl unitframes which I have, it uses (in my opinion, highly visible) cast bars on top of the mob's nameplate. I use them every time I need to interrupt something as Ret.

For your fourth problem I would redirect you to maintankadin's macro/ui forum.

I hope this was useful.

I have both OptiTaunt for announcing my failed taunts, and Tankadin to announce when Avenger's Shield misses and when I use my bubble wall (Divine Protection). I think Tankadin would announce taunts too, but I liked the messages that OptiTaunt sends to a player if they are the target of the mob I am trying to taunt, so I kept it :)

Also, it drives me nuts when I'm in a raid and the other Palys don't have PallyPower ... Get it :P Not only does it make assigning buffs easier, but it makes it a lot easier to keep track of players who may die and need a rebuff cause I can see the time remaining for all my Blessings/Righteous Fury all in one convenient spot.

1. Sounds like a HUD of some kind - I use ArcHUD, which uses half circles, but there are a number of equivalent HUD addons with slightly different look and feel.
2. Scrolling combat text of some kind - I've tried SCT, but I've currently settled on Parrot. It does scroll outside the HUD area, but I expect there are settings for SCT that could do the same.
3. Quartz. Gives me a swing timer, my cast bar, cast bars for focus and target, and a spark for my GCD.

And I second the shout out to PallyPower, unless your guild goes all the way up to something like ZOMGbuffs and brings everyone to the party.

I'm also getting to like PowerAuras for a better visual indication of important procs and cooldowns, although I believe the tanking rotation is tight enough that this is of less importance than it is to, say, mages and hunters or even healers.

I use IceHUD which has ( me ) style bars, and Mik's scrolling battle text which scrolls in a curved fashion. I like the combination personally.

Power Auras is amazing, its basicly a mod that lets you create your own trigger mods. can be set up to flash highly costomizable icons on the screen for pretty much everything.

warrior just pops spell reflect in pvp? can make a visual que for that.
cant see your art of war proc? can make a visual que for that.
keep cleansing Unstable affliction off yourself? can make one for that too.

its just retarded how usefull this becomes the more you use is.

i set up a Raid only trigger for if i pull agro, but when i joined a BG and any hostile targets me, it triggers it also! now i know if someone is out to kill me.

i have mine set up to show my Seal timer, Art of War timer, and when judge, CS, DS, and Devine plea are off CD. and they all are set up to look like an aura that interlocks with each other to look quite amazing when all are turned on.

oh yeah, any paladin that doesnt have pally power needs a beating . . just say'n.

I'll fourth this, it's that important. I think Bodh once said "any Pally running without Pally Power is phail" and I cannot agree more. I absolutely hate it when we get a new Pally in guild who shows up to a raid without it, when it's on our website as one of maybe four "required" mods.

In fact, it's gotten to the point where if someone doesn't have their pally buff when we're about to pull, they ask in vent "are all you pallies running Pally Power?"
