Why does my rogue fail?Follow

Hey! try a rotation that stuns the mob the most time possible. If ur having trouble with taking dmg use ur CS then Mut. After that u can use KS and stun him for 6 sec, that shall give u time 2 use Mut again, and u can Evis if the mob isnt already dead. I have rogue in WTLK and didnt died once while lvling, except if i get greedy and get 4-5 mobs at a time, without any CC :D

I personally do a CS>Mutilate opener. I then just wait for white damage and watch the time of my Cheap shot. When it gets close to being over I look to see what the health of the mob is. If the mob's health is >50% I Kidney Shot, if it is < 50% I Evis. You don't have to spam your finisher ASAP.

I'm currently Muti/prep for Pvp, and find myself dropping my target either within the KS or right after it goes away. This is against mobs that you do your normal dailies.

I recently started replaying an old level 60 rogue of mine and have to say that this little bit of info has made quite a huge amount of difference to my survivability as a rogue. I made the mistake of using RaF (so I didnt play him for 30 levels) to level him up from level 30 and with the worthless gear I have equipped off the auction house mutilate spec with this simple rotation is great.

Hey, Fronglo. I'll start by admitting that I am not a number crunching rogue. I'm an oddity of a rogue who can't hold a number in her head to save her life. In fact, I couldn't even keep my computer running well enough to run wow if I wasn't lucky enough to be married to an awesome computer guy who does it for me even though he is besieged by end-user women all day before he gets to the part of the day where I ask him to look at my machine. I've had trouble at times understanding the rogue forums here because they are written in this different language that isn't the English language that I speak. And when wrath came out, it was all just too much change for me. My brain turned off for a few weeks. Thankfully, it worked fine in real life just not when I tried to play the game or read about the game or think about the game.

But in spite of all that, I'm going to offer some advice to you. Rather than switching around speccs trying to figure out one that works for you, just use one of the cookie cutters offered here. And by that I mean, follow it point by point; Don't make ANY changes. And do the same for all of the advice that you can decipher from the rogue forum language. Choose the weapon the forum would recommend, such as in my case, a slow main hand and a fast off hand to go with my combat spec.

Then come back and read and re-read the rogue forum until more of it starts sinking in. That is what has always helped me figure my rogue out in the past and is starting to work again in Wrath. I may never be "math enough" to figure out the spreadsheets, but I am good with the language side of my brain so even chat from "math types" and real gamers can eventually be figured out. And I love it that I can excel in WoW on my own strengths even though I was never a gamer before WoW and I spend all of my time with children--very goofy children-- wreaks havoc on my ability to focus. ;p

Even within the hardcore alla rogue community, with all the arguing and freaking out at each other there is wiggle room in how you will eventually spec and play. For example, I'm specced for endgame even though I am still leveling. It means I'm not doing it the optimal way, but it was something I knew I could live with and benefit from while I'm getting back on track with my rogue and finishing those last two levels. (I'm sure there is someone here who needs duck tape to hold his head together every time he sees me post.)

Just don't try to take advantage of the wiggle room right off the bat. Punt.

For your level, this is the Mutilate spec you should use: 42/13/7. From there, you can fill in where ever the hell you please, but the core soloing talents are there. Use Wound poison on both daggers, and you shouldn't have any problems. If you're still getting half your health bar nipped off on single pulls, you're doing something horribly, nefariously, catastrophically wrong.

If you don't like Mutilate, this is a good Combat spec for your level: 6/51/5. Just fill in the rest of the Assassination tree as you level up. You'll still want Wound poison on both weapons here, but you want a slow weapon in your mainhand, and a fast weapon in your offhand (i.e. that mace you're using in the OH now has got to go). The points in CQC can be moved to the weapon spec that suits your weapons at the time.

And before anybody jumps in with "zomg riposte sucks!1!11one", it's a cheap CP and a kickass leveling talent. Totally worthless in a group/raid environment, but invaluable for grinding levels.

I finally played around with him for abit and at least now I am not dieing (or running) constantly. I just couldn't get the hang of mutiliate. I went back with Combat with the Mace Spec since I heard it is supposed to get beefed up with 3.1. My dps has doubled although I am still taking alot of damage. I also did some fine tuning on gems/armorkits so that might help some. Did wrathgate so got new leggings and nice trinket. I actually put AP/critt kit on this time. Far as my boots go I hate to spend any amount of money on those boots as they will most likely be upgraded soon by something else thats the only reason they have a cheap STA armor kit on them. I upgraded most of the outland gems to WOTLK ones. I got quite a bit more AP now and higher crit chance.
