glyphs and professions?Follow

#1 Mar 14 2009 at 11:26 PM Rating: Decent
what glyphs should I be using? I'm affliction, and can't decide which glyphs are the best and/or what the glyphs are that an affliction warlock just has to have. thanks for the advice.

oh, and on a different topic (i'd figure i'd ask on here so i wouldnt have to create a whole new thread), what professions are good for a lock? I'm tailoring/enchanting since before wotlk, but since the expansion, i really dont feel like leveling it up some more. I'm considering herbalism/alchemy. which would be more beneficial? and if I roll herb/alch, what specialty would most benefit me? Thanks again

What are your goals for professions? DO you want to make stuff, or do you want to make gold? I've found the two to be mutually exclusive, as a general rule. If you want to make gold, keep enchanting, but don't enchant. DISenchant instead.

Personal preference really. Hell, I'm Tailoring/Engineering. Engineering specifically for the goggles, plus all the neat toys we can use are cool (if a bit useless lol).

Tailoring.....if they release some new epic recipes in 3.1 it would be worth keeping. But right now the only things I really get out of it is making the cloths to sell on AH and the leg enchants (lightweave embroidery also though I have begun to question its usefulness).

Alch/Herb is good for a lock especially if you make flasks. i use so many Flasks of the Frost Wyrm during raid nights, though the cost really isn't that bad on them (45g on my server).

Though IMO if you want to max out you stats, probably Enchanting/Jewelcrafting. Though that would get expensive I would think.

Like I said. Think about what YOU want out of it. Whether you want to make money or have a craft that will directly benefit you. Chances are you probably won't be able to have both.

As for glyphs....That's going to be changing with 3.1. But right now I use ShadowBolt, Corruption and Siphon Life. The minor ones really don't matter TOO much though I grabbed the Unending Breath, Drain Soul and Souls.

But like I said, once 3.1 hits these will be changing.

I'd keep tailoring, until you've made all your bags, at least. If you do raids/instances, you're likely to replace any gear you make for yourself, sadly. Wish Blizzard would give tailors some epics worth making and keeping.

Enchanting is a good money maker. People will sometimes tip for enchants and even disenchants.

If you are trying to sell enchants, you are doing it wrong. You have to deal with lousy tippers, people who can't afford to pay for your mats (at market price), and other ingrates. Leave enchanting to the few who are the true masochists, and sell mats instead. Enchant your own gear multiple times in order to level your DISENCHANTING skill.

When I offer my enchanting skills, I ask that people provide the mats for any enchants they want. Being that my enchanting isn't maxed, I don't require tips. A level up in enchanting is better than a tip, in my opinion. I don't have a problem making gold off my tailoring, so I don't need to make too much off enchanting.

Since i'm at school, don't have my computer and i forget my glyphs i can't really help you there. But for professions i am 450 mining/220 Enchanting. I love mining cause when i am farming and there aren't like a million farmers in sholazar at once i make around 500g an hour(20 saronite goes for around 20-25g on my server). My second prof is enchanting but i really am not too concerned about maxing it yet, since a part of me wants to drop it for something else. But yea i deff recommend mining for the money and alchemy i guess for flasks and ****.

currently (i.e. prior to the ulduar patch), for glyphs as affliction you should be using Curse of Agony, Siphon Life, Immolate.
