I just respecced from arcane to FFB (I think its the standard FFB build that I'm using) but i lost a ton of mana and 200 SP... im worried that I'm going to lose another ton of spell power trying to get myself to the hit cap but my dps has gone up even though im not using any specific kind of rotation. Should I expect to lose DPS in my quest for the FFB hit cap?

Your spec is good and you ARE hit capped with Misery or Improved Faerie Fire (Shadow Priest or Balance Druid.) It also looks like you got the gear build at least headed in the right direction. Taking a few steps will up your DPS, though =)

For Raiding, the Hit Cap is +3 Levels or 17%. With the Precision talent, you now only need 14%. With Misery/IFF you only need 11%. Getting exactly at 11% or a tiny bit above is generally the best bet. Even if you ARE missing the Hit% Debuffs on raids, the overall benefit of more Hit% is not as good as focusing on your other stats!

Arcane gets its extra Spell Power and Intellect, along with some other really great buffs and cooldowns, but it boasts little passive bonus Damage - something that Fire (and Frostfire especially) specializes in. This means that even if your stats are lower, FFB has the potential to put out some nice damage and some huge crits. The real power of FFB, though, lies in the Scorch debuff. Improved Scorch not only allows you to crit more often, but nets a HUGE boost to raid-wide DPS.

My suggestion to you is to clean up some of that Hit you have. The only time you'll need 14% Hit is if you are in a static 10-Man group that DOESN'T have a Boomkin/SPriest - when this is the case generally getting a few key pieces that trade Crit for more Hit is suggested. If you're mostly doing 5-Mans, though, you're definitely set!

For now, make sure EVERY gem has Spell Power on it - you've done pretty well so far. With Frostfire, Spell Power gets amplified x3.38 its normal value when you crit - so its DEFINITELY you're friend. Your other friend is Crit -- this is your main problem I see. When I was FFB I had over 30% Fire Crit chance. High ratings come with better gear which can only be gotten over time, though.

So keep workin' on that gear! It really looks like you got the jist of it down already.
