MT-ing Sarth...in reference to Lava WavesFollow

Up until this past week, I OTd OS10 and 25 (no drakes on either) fine, no problems. Then this past week I was nominated MT. Not knowing exactly how to avoid it, I ate some Lava Waves and healers got me through it. No wipe. I got knocked back into the lava, swam back up as quickly as I could. At that point though, Sarth was as far on the edge as possible--when I swam back up, apparently it wasnt straight and actually screwed some ppl over when I got back and he wasnt facing East. I corrected him....but point is

when MTing, whats to be done during the Lava Waves?

MT is simple, with or without drakes. Your job is tanking Sarth and Sarth alone.

You want to tank him in a spot, where you only have to pay attention to one side of flame walls. Pick your preferance

Our MT pulls sarth to the spot closest to the portal. He tanks him on the very corner, then turns his camera to face behind him. That way if the lava walls come from the left(when facingsarth before the pull), he only has to strafe to the left a little to avoid the flame wall, then strafes back. He never has to worry about the flamewall from the right because he is already at a spot where the flame wall won't hit him.

You could also stand on the first red fissure on the ground. You won't have to move when the flame walls come from the left(when facing Sarth before the pull), but strafe right to the corner when they come from the right side.

I know the job of MTing Sarth. That others are meant to grab the ele's off me, etc etc...

I think the primary issue was--and has been illuminated by watching more vids of the fight from a MT POV--when I was OTing I only was aware of one safe spot for each direction of lava wave. Now I notice coming from the left (when facing him pre-pull) there are 2 safe zones and when coming from the right there's just one...that true? 'Cos when I was MTing and thought there was only one safe spot option from the left--the ****** obstructed my view, also, of a 2nd spot--where I thought my option was eating the wave or jeopardizing the raid while running over to the first safe spot.

As for positioning, I've only ever seen him positioned facing East on the V in the back, right next to the lava.

this is typical no drakes with tank facing West:

i've found it easier for me to have my initial position a little more to my left than that pic(on the small grey spot), but you do have some play room for preference. when the wave is coming from in front of you, make sure you rotate the boss and NOT move him(my rotate spot is where the lava fissure splits and goes to the right)

when rotating, read where all your raid members are. you rotate too fast and they get tail-whipped. you rotate too slow and you risk getting hit by the wave.

thanks! that was very descriptive and helpful.
#6REDACTED, Posted: Mar 15 2009 at 8:45 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) MT'ing sarth without getting hit with a lava wave is incredibly easy, and if you cant bother to do it (if your not trying) then your just plain lazy.

Seriously? How about you read the thread and my train of thought. Laziness has absolutely nothing to do with it. Literacy ftw. ( )|( )
