I had this happen to me last night in a BG, then I started using it on others.... it is soooooo fun. I have a rogue that I PVP'ed with almost exclusively, so I used to stunlock the heck out of clothies and kill 'em. I often thought druids lacked this ability. But they don't.

I was in kitty mode and pounced (first stun)
Then mangle, and a shred...
Then Rip (second stun)
Then Tiger's fury and mangle again
Then pop into bear form and use bash to stun again.

I was fighting a deathknight (very OP at lvl 69) and got him down to 1/3 health this way, then mauled him to death.... it was so fun! I am going to go out and practice this technique on mobs to refine it and such, but wow! That was cool.

I may be on to something, or this may be one of those "OMG, what a n00b... duh, we knew about that since forever ago".

Happy PVPing.

Don't wanna sound mean, but, it is kinda old news. Still, good job exploring your class rather than relying on other people to serve you info on a silver platter. (Well, in this case the info was already found but, you get my point :P)

Regardless, Maim is changing in 3.1 from an incapacitating effect to a stun and is having its effect duration reduced, so you'll see DR kicking in earlier and will have much more trouble keeping someone/something stunlocked.

Sorry. ;-) Don't mean to sound like a n00b, but I put my druid away for a long time and just got him back out and leveled from 58-69. Now I'm just having fun with him in BGs. Anyways, thanks for the encouragement! I love the versatility of druids (and I hate fighting them on my mage... seems I get stunned and ripped to pieces or they just heal through my whole mana pool)...

:-)

Having a great time with my Druid!

You think that was fun?

Man back in S2-S4 when the resto arena spec was still king. As a resto druid could effectively lock someone down for 20-30 seconds.

Pounce
Claw
Maim
Bear Form
Bash
*back up*
Feral Charge
Cyclone
Cyclone
Cyclone
Root

Bear Form
Feral Charge

And to think people complained about rogue stun lock.

I use this ghettoish stunlock method all the time in PvP with reasonably good success. Though the only time I go into bear form is when the player I am attacking isn't already dead after the first rotation of attacks out of stealth.

The 3.1 change to Maim is going to be uber weaksauce.

Whoa whoa whoa... In 3.1 does the change to maim make it cause no damage with the additional change to making it purely a stun like a rogues kidney shot

Whoa whoa whoa does the 3.1 change to maim make it only a stun, like a rogues kidney shot, or is it still going to damage but just instead of incapacitating it will stun???

You can edit your posts instead of double-posting btw.

And I'm not 100% sure I understood what you wanted to say, so I'll just answer with this: In 3.1, Maim will be changed from Incapacitate to Stun and its duration will be reduced by 2s.

What this means in practice is:
-Maim will now share Diminishing Returns with Pounce and Bash.
-Maim will not break due to damage anymore.
-The stun duration will now equal the number of Combo Points built up.
-Damage-wise I believe this is left untouched.

I hate getting stunlocked :o
And as a balance druid, I can't really do this lol,
but good job finding it out for yourself Aquifer. :D

Main doesn't break to damage now.
Or does it take higher damage to break it?

Precisely. There is a damage threshold that must be met to break the effect early. I can't remember the numbers off the top of my head but that's the main difference between an Incapacitate and a Stun.

Didn't mean to double-post,safari crashed in the midsts of submitting so I did not know if it went through. Okay that answers my question, I think. I was just wanting to make sure Maim did the same amount of damage and not just turned into a kidney shot for druids.
