I'm not a very techically gifted person, but I always see screenshots of people who have complete birds eye view of the entire raid. Their casting bars are custom arranged ect...What mods are they using and how can I make my interface look like this?

Thanks.

if you can link a picture of what you are looking for I would be happy to help point out the addons.

for instance, here is mine (sized down from 1920x1200)

Purtty UI.

Here's my shams raid UI. Mages is the same except bars are different. I can make is smaller by getting rid of some of my bars, but I like to have everything on the screen in case of keyboard failure (damn bats). I use 2 more bars that are hidden and hot keyed.

I just used forums and found stuff I liked, then asked the person what mod what what.

Edited for script fail.

Darkhybridx, do you mind telling us what addons you use for your UI? I would be interested in changing mine to look like yours. Or even better, a download for it? Thanks.

Holy mackerel! The old adage of "careful what you wish for" just came to mind. Seems a bit overwhelming if looked at all in one shot. I know that many of those are casting timers, crowd control, and map mods ect....I'm going to do what any self-respecting man will do! Crack a beer, pop a Xanax, download and install everything all at once, and work it out.

Thank you for sharing this. I know I'll get it dialed in eventually.

oh, I also use Quartz (cast bar) and don't forget to pick up Align ( with /align it will draw a grid to help you make things are lined up etc).

The general layout is SpartanUI which you can get at SpartanUI.com

It comes set up with the bars and the graphics. Check out the commands for it on their site so you can turn off stuff you don't want (like the party bars). The barmod it uses is bartender4.

Grid is what I use for my party frames. It takes some getting used to but once you have learned how to use it it's great.

Other mods I use are:

Buffalo - Buffs and debuffs
Parrot - Combat text
FuBar with GuildFu, DurabilityFu, and CalenderFu.
Totem Caddy - for my sham
Proximo - for arena
Natur EnemeyCastBars - for arena.
Omen, BigWigs, and oRA2 for raiding.

Anobix,

I had some questions after loading everything and running a Heroic. I have modified a picture of your UI for reference. I will post a screenshot of my UI and do the same thing tomorrow, but here goes:

#1 What is this and where did it come from?
#2 What is this and where did it come from?
#3 What is this and where did it come from?
#4 What is this and where did it come from?
#5 This looks like everyone in your party and some kind of reading of their health or something. How can I get my party/raid bar to look like this.

Also, I have like 25 white squares grouped in a 5x5 configuration showing what buffs are on my toon. It's huge and you can't even really see the buffs becuase of how white the squares are. How do I show buffs like you have on your UI? There are also 10 Pink squares of the same size. I'm not sure what they do.

lastly, I seem to be able to see what everyone is individually targeting in the party, and those frames show name, health, mana ect of the mobs..and are huge! How do I stop this, or modify to only see what the tank is targeting?

I really appreciate your help. Other than that I love the new mods and keybinding is awesome. With everything above my UI is more cluttered than ever!

Regards,

Steven

1/2/3/4 are all part of pitbull.

1) me
2) focus
3) target of target
4) target

5 is my recount readout.

The style of the pitbull layout is from caithui
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11255-CaithUI.html

I believe the bars that you are seeing on the right side (I'm guessing) are from buffalo (your buff bars). type /buffalo or /buffalo2 (I believe) in chat and it should bring up the configuration menu.

If I have time tonight I will see if I can .rar up my UI and post it, although I will probably have to cut certain things out to get rid of extraneous addons that I didn't mention (and like my auctioneer files etc).

As for the unitframes if you do /pitbull you can change which modules you want turned on/off. I turned off all raid modules, and I believe I turned off 5man party/group modules for raids in that configuration page as well. Pitbull is pretty daunting at first with a ton of settings, but browse through an experiment and you will find out what the things do for the most part.

Your post made a great deal of sense since Pitbull and buffallo don't have buttons on the minimap! This is why I wasn't able to change those ones. I will fool around with it again tonight. I'll also get align and already use quartz, since the old latency issues required it for higher dps.

How were you able to move your minimap?

Thanks.

both squeenix and simpleminimap have settings to allow you to unlock it and scale it (I am currnetly using simpleminimap but they both have basically thesame functionality).

you should be able to either right click the map and change settings or if you are using squeenix try doing /squeenix.

you may also have settings for it under the interface/addons options from the escape menu. (as well as right clicking on fubar to see a lot more addons in a drop down menu)

Well my interface looks pretty sweet now. I was able to make all the changes through pitbull and buffalo. I have a wide screen so I can get all of it in much like yours.

One last problem I had was with pitbull. I wanted to rezize the party frames when I was in a 5 man group. I did so by using the "party" selection, then "other" and resized them. Then, for some stupid reason still unknown to God and the universe, I clicked on "party" again and somehow disabled it. Not only could I no longer see my group but the "party" selection in pitbull disappeared too! Now when I'm in a group I can't see my group members.

I guess this doesn't matter, but I was using the party frames to select the tank of the group, so I could see his/her target and attack it. (is there a better way to select the target of the tank without using tab?)

Thanks again for helping me through this. I am hopeful that others will see this thread and be enlightened too.

There are a couple of ways to select the tank's target.

In raids I always use oRA2 (or CT Raid Assist, same basic thing) where I can setup tank targets (or effectively anyone's targets) as long as I have been given assist in the raid (or if I am leading of course).

You should be able to get those modules back by going to /pitbull and going under Extra Units and re-adding it.

Also, if you want to turn off target of players on your frames you can just click on the player and hit "F" as that is the main shortcut for target of target.

I am happy to report that I have built the interface that I have always wanted, thanks to your help. It works great and even resulted in 100DPS increase (on average) on heroic bosses. Just having everything right where I need it makes me more efficient.

My hat of wintry doom is off to you!

This thread needs more pics of your UI imo :-)

I didn't want to make another topic as people would probably point to this topic. So here it goes.

So my question to all of you is that is this UI viable with mage?

http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/9706/wowscrnshot030909190724.jpg

It looks fantastic and I want mine exactly like this :3
#19 Mar 14 2009 at 9:50 AM Rating: Good
that UI looks fine for a mage, although you won't need pallypower obviously the general layout and everything is fine.

I'm enjoying making a new one as well. This one is a work in progress. Omen is generally toggled off unless in a party or raid.

I have another question regarding this UI.
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/9706/wowscrnshot030909190724.jpg

Where this paladin has Grid, should I bring down Omen and the "damage done"(recount?) to where the Grid is? I mean I think I'll only really need to see 5 players which are in my party which I'll make on the left side. Or does a mage have to see all 25/10 members?
#23 Mar 20 2009 at 5:49 PM Rating: Decent
I downloaded the Spartan UI and so far I really liked it! It's a bit small to read, but I can live with that. I downloaded Grid too, but so far I haven't been able to figure out how to use it and I'm not sure I need it until I start raiding anyways.

I guess you can ditch Grid and just get Decursive. It's what I'm going to do

Decursive looks pretty cool. I think I will use it, thanks for the tip.

Out of curiousity, are there any interface add ons that can help maximize dps? I'm still not where I want to be, even with some pretty decent upgrades and I'm curious if playing with my interface will help. I use the nUI interface, and I do like it for the most part, but there are some issues I have with it, mostly that the caster bar is severely lacking, and it's also difficult to see your debuffs, which obviously can cause problems with keeping track of your rotation as an arcane mage.

For add ons that affect interface or help with raids, I am using:

DBM
Event Alert
Healbot
nUI
Omen
OmniCC
Recount
Sexy Map (I can keep or toss this one)
Slide Bar (I don't even remember what this one does)
Titan

That's about it I think.

This is a screenshot of my UI out of combat:

This one is in combat:

As you can see, the caster bars are not only ugly, they're also tiny. The bars on the left side are my health and mana, the bars on the right side are my target's health and mana. Any suggestions would be very helpful.
