I'm currently gearing up my Holy priest, and I'm wondering if you guys can recommend some good trinkets. It would be good if the trinkets were pre-raid, but they can be from heroics, as I'm running those.

Thanks

Here's one for starters:

Talisman of Troll Divinity

Is quite a nice priestly item that drops from The Prophet Tharon'ja (last boss in Drak'Tharon Keep). It only drops on heroic.

Soul Preserver

From Regular CoT: Culling of Stratholme. It's a pretty decent trinket pre-raiding/heroics.

First of all, the Soul Preserver is one mighty fine trinket, regardless whether you're disc or holy. It'll be a little bit nerfed with the mana regeneration changes (mana gained outside the 5SR will be lowered), but it'll still be one you can easily keep 'til you start Naxx 25. As another plus, it drops from normal CoT: Stratholme. A random drop in heroic HoL is the Winged Talisman which will retain it's usefulness past the next patch. Also you might want to start running heroic HoS; both the Spark of Life and the Forge Ember drop from the last boss Sjonnir there. While the Forge Ember is undoubtfully better for disc priests, it's still a fairly nice trinket to have when starting Naxx. Last but not least there's the Talisman of Troll Divinity that drops from Tharon'ja in heroic Drak'Tharon Keep.

If you want my opinion, I'd focus on getting the Soul Preserver first and the Spark of Life second. This is because even with the upcoming regeneration changes those two will grant you the highest and imo most useful proc/triggered effects. The thing is that the Soul Preserver is an effective ~128MP5 over the course of an average fight, while the Spark of Life sits on ~52 and has the fairly useless haste stat to go with it. That said, the Spark is still the most powerful out of all other named trinkets; The Winged Talisman is on 29MP5 and has a fairly useless use effect, and even though spirit is of more use to holy priests than it is to disc priests, the Talisman of Troll Divinity is sitting around 20MP5 and with that has the lowest MP5 out of all regenerative trinkets in this post. The Forge Ember has an unreliable spellpower proc and it's main use is the crit rating on it - it's more of an "if all else fails" trinket.

If you want the proper math behind those numbers, just look up the items on Wowhead and check the comments.

I'm curious why you would say this Moz.

Do you think they will nerf the effects of the trinket with the coming nerf to mana regen?

I thought they were nerfing how characters were affected by mana regen. Basically you will get less mana regen outside of the 5SR from spirit. Some talents being readjusted to not refund as much mana. But you think they will nerf gear effects as well?

If the Chance on Heal effect of the trinket remains the same, after the patch, it will actually be a buff to the trinkets value.

Now, the 800 mana isn't really that spectacular because mana consumption is a moot point. However after the mana regen nerf, if mana regen is a serious issue you have to think about(which is Blizz's intention), that 800-less mana heal will be all the more valuable, making the trinket more valuable.

No my dear Synn, you've missed my point *grins*

The thing is, the Soul Preserver lets your next spell cast cost -800 mana. This effectively means half your ******* becomes free of mana. Which effectively means this trinket's proc is going to help taking you outside the 5SR.

It's not as much about the trinket itself being nerfed, but more that you won't be able to use it to get outside the 5SR anymore. Or well, you will, but it's use will be diminished.

That idea is pretty interesting, in fact. It fits right in with to the idea that stacking spellpower is in fact bad because larger heals = larger overheals. And I'm not ridiculing it, since with the way raiding and healing currently works, those theories probably hold more weight than the old ones.

I have this:

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=40685;source=live

which I bought for emblems of heroism (40 if I recall correctly)

I love it. The spellpower boost is pretty high for a trinket and means you can cope with a SP trade off elsewhere if you need it. It also seems to proc reasonably frequently and that extra haste can make a massive difference if it hits at the right time. Also for someone like me who never remembers to use things and has to macro them into panic buttons you don't have to remember to use it.

I am also lucky enough to have this:

Bizarrely I notice this proc more than the other one for some reason. I got it on a 25 man, only time in my life I think I ever rolled 100 and omg was I happy, but it is BOE so if you have money to burn you can buy it from AH usually for a few K gold. Most people in the run (half pug) thought I was nuts to equip it but what else do I have to spend gold on? I have epic flying, maxed out trade skills and decent armor. I only ever buy consumables or bits for my alts and the money for these easily comes from dailies.

Before this I used the Troll Talisman which is pretty neat, I macroed it into flash heal to remember to use it!
