I recently hit level 80 and am going to be able to actually run instances when I go on leave and head stateside in a few more days. Not being one to slack when it comes to grouping I figured it was time to do a bit of homework. So I have a few questions for those of you who have actually grouped in WotLK.

As an Affliction Warlock, to run heroics, NOT raids, heroics:

1. How much +dmg should I have to start with? I have 1657 right now, still wearing mostly T6 as upgrades have been few and far between while leveling. Will be getting myself an Ebonweave Robe soon, which will give me another 30 or so.

2. How much hit should I have? I have 249 I think? I also have 3/3 points in Suppression, and the robe upgrade will give me another 68, putting me at 317.

3. What does a standard casting rotation look like these days?

4. What glyphs are best for an Affliction lock?

Thanks for the help guys!

Surprise: you have enough hit for raiding (more than enough for heroics).
I have over 2000 spellpower, so I cant tell you what a minimum should be for a warlock. You have more than enough hit, so that wont be an issue.

Yea most of the T6 stuff will provide you with enough stats for Heroic runs. Mainly just concentrate on getting some badge gear running some 10 man stuff. Raiding in this xpac is a joke you can pretty much raid in blues as a DPS.

I usually run Heroics with similar stats that you posted. (1600SP, 300+ Hit). Sometimes I actually top DSP in the group, sometimes I don't. Slight change in my gear for a little more Hit, similar SP, but less crit/haste, I've done 10max Naxx. But my guildies are nice enough to let me do naxx with them when I had mostly blues and some green gear, they use to pull me through. I feel like a semi solid contributor now.

Does that mean that I can ignore "LF1M DPS - must be geared!"? Sorry, but your conjecture does not agree with what I see in the (real?) world - which is why I gave you a rate-down.

Sure, you can, but everyone who actually prepares will do better than you. If you like to leech, more power to you.

Hmm, it's odd how you can raid in blues for beginner raid content now. I could have sworn when I first set foot in Kara I was in dungeon blues with scattered heroic and crafted epic gear. I thought when I did the 20-man lvl 60 raids that they actually rewarded blues for killing bosses. It seems odd that only with this expansion I am able to raid in blues, I must have memory problems.

If you wear the RIGHT blues and know how to play your class you can do more than enough dmg. Gear isn't everything. I've seen fully purple geared people with an abysmal DPS that would get them booted from a tougher heroic.
