Hello I am trying to put together a 39 ret twink paladin and could use some help with a build for talents and gear especially with the weapon choice the few builds I have found recommend the Pendulum of Doom I have spent 4 days farming the 3 mobs that have a chance to drop it with out much luck a alternative would be nice. Also since I am new to the class some ideas on spell rotations would be welcome as would any advice, thanks for your ideas.

Don't farm the POD. Just... don't.
The droprate on that thing is so astonishingly low, its incredible. If you do happen to get it, are you still going to put it on? Its worth 10k gold now. Quite the price compared to the few hundred I paid a long while back. I mean, if you're feeling lucky, go for it. Just don't hold your breath.
An alternative is the BOA 2 handed axe. Fiery war axe and Nightsomething blade are both terrible because of their low top end damage/high speed/low average damage/the politically correct way of saying it. They plain old suck.
The best way to gear up and get talented is through the WoW forums, sadly. Get on your battlegroup forums and announce you want to make a 39 ret pally. Don't ask for advice, ask for lvl 39 ret pallies to post on their toons, or at least for names of complete or closely completed pallies.

I didn't realize he picked up Witchfury, i think he was originally using Mograine's Might. I know he was looking for X'caliboar, but the drop rate compounded by the spawn rate of Ragglesnout tried his patience.
It's not a perfect, best in slot, hardcore twink, but it's something you can look at for ideas.

I don't want to step on your toes pizzaking, but I highly recommend not following "scrub" twinks to gear up. All that ends up happening is it costs much, much more in terms of both gold and time invested, as best in slot items are sometimes no more difficult to obtain than other.
Also, the Witchfury is just bad for PvP. Low mid/top end damage again because of its speed. The mail skeletal shoulders should be dropped for the leather fleshhide shoulders from RFD because they give you another 6 agility. Actually, both of those should be dropped for the BOA shoulders with PvP lvl 80 enchant on them, but fleshhide should be used to hold you over until then.
The dragonclaw ring is garbage compared to the Aquamarine signet of the bear. The boots can be upgraded. The pants can be upgraded. The belt can be upgraded. The gloves can be upgraded. When you add it all up, a lot of gold can be "wasted" if you're trying to make a twink that will actually beat other twinks. To be honest, most of the upgrades are very expensive BOE items and in the end it would cost you much more to gear up to max, but knowing what you should be looking for is invaluable.
A bit of research will go a long way in making the gearing process more efficient is what I'm really trying to get at.

That's why i presented it with caveats stated, it's far from perfect. I clearly was not saying "copy this".
I happened to have a little information that could be examined to decide what to, and what not to do (as you pointed out), so i tossed it out there. That's all.
Yes, the dragonclaw ring sucks, but it's just what he had on him, not his final goal. He only just started playing with it, and imo he rushed it. He's working with limited resources, as this is not his primary server. He doesn't have an 80 on KM to have access to BoAs, larger funds, easier farming, etc. Just for clarification.

I would like to thank you all for the tips. I didn't know about the leather shoulder item I will look into it I have tried to keep the gold spent on this toon to a minimum I am working on getting the BOA shoulders but they will take a while I got the shoulders and axe from Herod in SM and am working on getting the belt and sword from Ragglesnout in RFD. again thanks for your advice on this paladin.
Yeah, when I started out with my 39 warrior, I was using the ravager. Let me tell you, it does just as much harm as it does good. Once in a while I was in the middle of a pack of 3-4 alliance when it procced and I'd love to see the numbers fly up. Most of the time though, I was chasing someone down who was kiting me and it would proc, giving him just enough time to get out of range.
