DPS and portal "tanking" on all 3d attempts. Tanked him once in a pug 0d but as we all know, that don't count =)

DK of course! I believe this is the right spec, but we have had several discussions about it and there is some wiggle room here and there. /shrug.

Right now we're 2-3 shoting 3d every week. Usually takes that first attempt to get everyone in "the mood", know what I mean? =)

I tanked him last week and I'll be honest, I wasn't all that good at it. It was my first try though, I'm sure I'll get it. I was thinking of using this spec

Calling out for shields from the healers and popping the cooldowns at the right times is key. We've had 3 tanks on Sarth and it's a learning curve for sure. Good luck!

Despite what people think, your DK tank with enough HP will not need the big CDs from your healers (like Guardian Spirit and such), you can get by with just your own well timed CDs.

And you do not have to specc-ed a certain way for 25 mans, any of the standard tanking specs will do (however there is an optimal spec).

Chances are that your DPS/TPS on Drakes will be the bottleneck to your progress on Sarth3D and not your MT. Good luck all the same :)

In an ideal game-world a DK MT for Sarth would not need to spec for the fight or heavy assistance from the support. But things are rarely ideal. And let's not forget that Dilbrt is just starting to tank the encounter.

Every single DK tank with the title that I've spoken with (and it seems all the ones our tank class lead has) described the timing of cooldowns in conjunction with the healer abilities to be key when starting out. There are other things like timing the portal kills and dealing with the drakes' DPS budget, but this thread isn't about general Sarth 3D strategies, it's about MTing the encounter.

Once you guys get into the groove then, like all encounters, you'll figure out which tricks you need and don't, when you need them, etc... I assume from what I know of Dilbrt on these forums that he'll be able to figure that out.

Just wanted to clarify my two cents above.

Well, we just did our 25-Sarth3D first kill without it. And our raid setup was hardly ideal, considering we stacked a lot more melee than what most guilds would probably bring.

But all in all, in that encounter, MT-ing Sarth is hands down the easiest role namely because Breath predictability makes it simpler to plan ahead for. You do all your prep ahead of the encounter, threat is a non-factor and you move left/right every so often, people are too caught up with the breath kills when its an actually an easier mechanic to guard against than Patchwerk's Hatefuls.
