Druid or Paladin healer?Follow

#1 Mar 03 2009 at 7:57 PM Rating: Good
My guild has little or no healers atm. Would i be better off to level my paladin or druid? We currently dont run any lvl80 content, but wish to soon. I would be most likely healing in 5mans. Both chars are 72 and 70, i can easily gear up via quests and faction gear. Any help is greatly appriciated.

For 5-mans i would go with a druid. Cause he is more flexible.
For raiding they are equally good.

Paladins, despite a variety of changes to make them more adaptable, tend to excel more at single-target healing.

Druids are also difficult to play. I don't say this in an attempt to scare you away, but our healing mechanics are based on our ability to heal over time. We've gained a lot of adaptability recently as far as longer, burst heals, but these will still not compare to what any other healer is able to do. It really requires a lot of active thought while healing, but I feel it can be extremely rewarding.

my experiences as healer in 5 manns with those 2 clases

pala: best singletarget healer, and with beacon of light you heal a second target at the same time. (and you can glyph to do some aoe heals pr heal to Glyph of Holy Light
challenging to heal: massive aoe on the whole party, moving fights, even with holy shock.fights with some stunns and silence could be harder with a paladin then a druid

druid: great healers with instant hot, np with aoe damage on raid or group. silence and stuns are a laugh for druid's if you know when its about to happen
challenging to heal: big hits on MT and a second target.

Pick either the paladin or the druid, and then force a guildy to use the other class :D

With level 80 10 and 25 man raids you're going to want to differenciate your healing classes so you can heal a lot more efficiently.

you can respec to both tank and dps with a pala to, but boomkins might be easier to get into raids if your guild got more meeles then ranged, and you will be able to offheal pretty good in that spec to if needed.

anyway, good luck with your new class. :):)

I have both a druid and Pally healer. More fun for me is the druid.

If you enter naxx the first wing that you will enter is probably the spider wing. There the druid healer (Maxxena-boss) really works better than the pally healer.(When we raid with a druid healer is much-much easier even a bad geared one)

You already made your decision and I think you made the correct choice. Still, this is a topic near and dear to my heart as I raid with a Holy Pally.

You wouldn't see a difference in five-mans because you can beacon the tank and heal the rest. That said, you wouldn't want to exclude the possibility of raiding even though you say you'd be most likely healing in five-mans.

We have a great core of healers in my guild, at least two really good healers in every class. I was in an 8-man Naxx10 run the other night that we still have to finish and in clearing three quarters (spider, plague, construct) the tree healing with me so far has doubled my effective healing. I'm even sure that except in one or two limited situations, such as Gluth where you just need two healers because of the ground one would have to cover, he could have solo-healed the run so far. I have that much respect for him. And I told him that in vent just before we broke the group for the night.

Now, granted there is a lot of skill involved here with this guildmate I'm referring to; I'm simply trying to point out that drood healing is awesome. Personally, I'd rather have a drood with me than any other class. And droods just look cool in all their various forms!
