Elemental/Resto Shaman and TailoringFollow

So I'm leveling an Elemental Shaman right now (will dual spec to Restoration for raids) and I picked up tailoring to help level up up Enchanting.

My question is can I (is it a very bad idea?) keep Tailoring at HL?
The main reason I ask is because I freaking wants the Magic Carpet and I'd hate to have to part with it....

PS: I also have a DK with Mining and Jewelcrafting and a Rogue with Herbalism and Alchemy

It is rather pointless. Seeing as how it's the worst profession in the game right now as far as extras go even for clothies, having it as a mail wearer really is big drain. What's even worse is if they do end up buffing it with some badass BoP gear, it won't matter to you. Your not going to make $$ and your not going to use the gear. All your going to get is a flying dish towel that will be boring and pointless in a few months like every other mount.

Very true but as a caster won't I potentially be putting some cloth on my character?
for example say in raids were i won't have aggro.

Sure there's some cloth gear that you can make that may be a upgrade for your in terms of spell power, like the Ebonweave stuff. But that's going to have +hit which you will not need.

Also priests, locks, and mages use spirit for mana regen, so that's going to be on most of the cloth gear. Shams use MP5, which you will find on all of the mail gear. There's no shortage of resto sham gear in the game. Legs, mace, and hands from rep, wrists, boots, and shield from badges, and lots of other stuff in heroics. If you are needing to wear some crafted cloth to raid, you are not ready to raid.

But if you really do like the carpet, then keep tailoring. It's just that it has no other uses for you as a sham.

Think the important thing is that the tailoring is being used to support enchanting. Without it you would go nuts trying to gets MATS together without Scavange the cloth drops are awful.

If you are using enchanting just to disenchant then loose tailoring if you have enchanting to actually make them and sell them using vellums then keep tailoring

Oh I will definitely keep Tailoring until I'm HL in Enchanting but I'm just wondering what to do after that.
My Shaman is just 18 so far so I have time to think about it....maybe 3.1 will be generous with tailors :P

I was selling stack of enchanting mats on my mage after lvling it up from DEing only quest gear. From 70 to 80 on my mage I made 1k gold from questing 500ish from mining, and 1.5k from selling enchanting mats I had left over.

Picking up another profession later on can be pricey unless you just pick up a gathering profession, then it's just time consuming. If you plan on raiding the alchy is good, skinning and mining are good for PvP.
