How do you pick an upgrade?Follow

I have been getting lucky lately and my equipment is steadily improving. My question is now, how do you pick an upgrade?

10 man Naxx is a gaurenteed clear every week in my regular group and as the other 10 man guild groups improve gear we are getting very close to a Heroic clear. I have run Rawr and have my list of wants.

So, do the rest of you "Save" your rolls for a specific boss that may or may not drop a wish list item? Or, when anything drops that is an upgrade, do you roll for a chance on the sure thing?

If you looked at my armory link, the one thing that is killing me is my main hand slot. Save my roll for the chance of a nice new sword/dagger, or spend it on the first thing I see?

Your opinions are welcomed.

It entirely depends on how your guild does loot. Can you roll on anything or do you have loot council? DKP, EP/GP? etc. Or can you only really roll on one thing unless it is getting melted.

I made a priority list for myself, I will pass on smaller upgrades to people whom it would be a bigger upgrade, with the exception of Turning Tide (which I hope I get this week, been a month since it last dropped...)

Find out which ones are the biggest dps increases and see what other people need. Don't be greedy, but if you and another are going to get a similar dps increase out of it, see if they want to roll on it.

We have been fortunate in the that we have had no loot issues so far. Those that need it roll, one item a run/night unless it is a shard otherwise, and so far people have been honest enough to pass on minor upgrades that are important to others. I do have my list. I pretty much have it committed to memory now. That, however, is a whole other area that will probably require professional help and/or medication.

Don't forget though, all of the pieces may be a certain upgrade to you right now, but when you get another piece it may decrease (or increase) the value of other pieces.
