Can I die?Follow

#1 Mar 03 2009 at 7:46 AM Rating: Default
I was wondering this because I was doing PVP yesterday as holy whhich my brother thought was stupid but I was like meh...

Anyways I had about 5-10 people whacking me at the LM and I was sitting there healing through it all for a good 3 minutes until some shaman decided to lure me to the edge and thunder stormed which I bubbles and survived the fall. But I was just barely keeping up with the heals.

Once I get some resillence and am in all plate gear, it must be really really hard to kill a healadin?

(Yeah I know, shame on me for not wearing plate. I ran heroics for a week and grabbed every healing piece I could so I could jump start my pally in naxx.)

Not a single one of them silenced, stunned, interrupted, or feared you?

No, they just sucked.

Lock down a pally for a bit and he'll go down, quickly. If you were alive for any amount of time, it was stupidity on the part of the other team. You should have been targeted and ganked after you stopped moving and started healing.

Healers in a Bg are not stupid.

Nothing wrong with that.

my new favorite combo on my Disc priest: double Dot, MC, then fear when they trinket MC.

in SotA i rode a 1200hp vehicle from beach to keep using this rotation. for a single Holy pally this means mana burns and dispels while waiting for him to bubble.

imagine if you used bubble for something useful.

Actually I strongly advice full plate and shield with lots of stamina for bg's and instance pugs in general because you ARE going to be taking hits, lots of hits, and having lots of mana doesn't do you any good if you die before you use all of it.

As BG healer your primary threat will probably be rogues, which do mostly physical damage (and if you're a healerdin you know what you can do with poisons), so armor helps, as does resilience and stun resistance.

Otherwise in PvE it's pretty much normal to go cloth for healing and leather for DPS but personally I don't like to maintain and carry many sets of gear.

While I agree with the first part of this I am going to disagree majorly with the 2nd part. Ret Paladins operate more on spike damage than consistency and much like a fury warrior they are going to take a stray hit once in awhile especially if a lucky string of crits occurs in their rotation. Unlike a rogue who may dodge the attack, the paladin is most likely going to eat the full amount of any damage directed at them. Also there is very few pieces of leather gear in the game anymore than boosts strength, which is one of the key attributes to a ret paladin. Strength outweighs agility and raw +attack power nearly every time, and nearly all the gear with strength on it is plate.

To the OP, Yes you can die but it's incredibly difficult to kill a Holy Paladin via melee. Sacred Shield, Holy Shock, Blessing of Freedom, and the bubble are some of our greatest tools in our ******** Its incredibly difficult to stun lock someone who is immune to movement impairing effects while taking reduced damage with an added 50% critical strike added to his Flash of Light. Add in the hybrid Holy/Ret who gains Sheath of Light and its even more difficult to strike you down.

Maybe the wording wasn't specific enough. Leather and mail aren't necessarily better, and if anything my advice is to go for plate whenever possible because you'll still need to be in a full set of plate for pvp/solo/pugs. But if you're in dire need of very quick regearing due to a respec or any other situation where you can increase your dps by ignoring if your gear is plate or not there will not be much problem for most PvE, it's not something you can't live with. It will however suck to be wearing less-than-plate in pvp or solo.

Even if you did it's still unlikely you'll end up in full leather, odds are you'll get mostly plate with a few pieces of mail/leather.

Also, in the case that you steal aggro you just bubble, or just get killed, in a well organized situation this isn't going to happen often unless someone is doing something wrong. It will hurt because it will block you from using the wings, but that's what happens when you steal aggro.

Holy Paladins are really good BG healers. You'll do well in the BGs.
