Need Tips - GrobbulusFollow

First Nax run over the weekend. Things went good until we hit Grobbulus. I am the OT in 10 man. Gear, general tanking knowledge is all good enough. No problems there.

MT is excellent - Better geared than I am, but he (unlike me), he is the Lead and really knows what's going on. Every pull every fight. DPS seem capable - some are really excellent, a few are slower - as I don't DPS I won't comment further. Healers seemed very good - nothing stood out as bad.

So - I'm OT and on slimes duty. Do you have any pointers or tips? We got multiple slimes on a few occasions – but this was not the norm.

When Grob Emotes “Slime” I start tabbing – when I get the slime – Paly Taunt. If multiple slimes – Paly Taunt, TAB, Throw Shield. I try to pull them onto the grate that surround about ½ of the room or where the grate WOULD be – in the section near the ramp. Out of Melee range, closer to the casters, but not too close.

Here were my issues:

1. What do I do if I get injected? I can’t tank and run to the wall (We set up – Run behind melee to drop your disease).
2. What type of DPS support should I be getting? They have 75k – I can kill them, but it takes forever. I generally found 1 to 2 Casters were killing the adds. Should there be more or is this the norm (aka – I just need to deal with it.)
3. What do I do if I’m NOT tanking a slime – but get the injection – then a slime spawns and I’m out of position... This happened once – basically the slime charged our casters – we lived, but it was sloppy. Is there an OOT?
4. Is there a way to lessen my chances of getting the injection.
5. Can I Bubble it off? Or will that be a cleanse – thus a problem?

Any tips would be helpful. The fight seems like it’s easy for the MT – just walk backwards, call out when you plan on moving around the ramp area, hold agro, walk faster as the fight progresses… It really seems like it’s a stress for the OT, DPS, and Healers.

I don't know if this helps, there is a section on what to do if the OT is injected:

I'm DPS so sorry I can't be more helpful.

Don't stand in front of him. You will only get one slime if only the main tank is in front. The best place to be is on his side so you dont stand in the cloud he drops behind him and you dont spawn extra slimes when he sprays. Occasionaly he randomly turns and you get 2 slimes but this is really not the norm.

If you get injected just run back and drop it off in a safe spot. The slimes are wimps and really dont hit that hard, hunters can MD them to main tank or any plate DPS can grab them. All DPS should switch to slimes when one is up, one or two mages wont cut it.

Just takes a bit of practice. We whiped on it a couple times at first as well and now it's just gravy, we never have any trouble with him.

Yeah - I've never been slimed. Like you said - it's that random turn/slime that spawns more.

I think we need more focus fire pulling him down.

We also were at 8:14 with 70k left. Is that too long. Enrage is at 9 right...?

Enrage is 12 minutes on normal, 9 on heroic.

This is really important. He spawns more slimes for each person in front of him. Keep all ranged in the middle of the room and just keep drumming into the melee to not get in front.

If he's turning "randomly" - it's not random. Someone is pulling aggro. Keep an eye on that too.

The is an intermittent bug with him. He will sometimes turn while spraying with never losing aggro.

just run to the wall, check to see if the coast is clear, then cleanse. (the raid will tell everyone not to use cleanse, but that is for the glue eaters, if you know what your doing, cleanse) bring the mobs with you.

we have all ranged burst on adds, if we have a multi add emergancy, ALL DPS go to adds.

run to the wall, check for clear, then cleanse to get back out asap.

No

dont bubble it off, the cloud is dropped once the debuff is removed, doesnt matter how its removed.

extra tip for the MT, turn on the walk feature and never stop walking backwards, when grob stops to turn, he can taunt to reface him during his inject animation to help with glitchy slime sprays.

Bubble does not make you immune to or dispel the debuff, you just take no damage. I bubble quite often to drop my cloud directly on the center of another cloud, and I don't lose the debuff until I cleanse.

Divine Shield also doesn't remove the debuff from Gluth's adds or Thaddius's polarity shift. Bubbling in the construct quarter is good for one thing: Blowing up frogger adds.

I'd guess your problem is that there's not enough dps on the adds...they should usually become your priority. We do all dps in 10 man, all ranged in 25 man.

If you get injected, just run to the wall with the slimes. Let dps know before the fight not to follow you if you do that, and to resume slime dps when you return.

If you're injected, the MT should pick them up, he aught to be able to take it for 10 seconds. taunt them when you get back. In 25 man thats not a problem cause you probably have 3 tanks.

I haven't seen him do this in at least a month now. I do remember him doing it back then, and it was annoying. If he's still doing it then we've just been lucky I guess.

Anyone who gets injected should be topped off, by the way, because when they drop their "cloud" they take a nasty hit.

Ruen has some good tips, although Ehcks says #5 doesn't work but I've never bubbled in there so I don't know. When our OT gets injected she runs and the slime follows her and one of us healers makes sure she's topped off for the trip.

Keep working at it Borsuk, when you get him figured out it becomes a fun fight. Just make sure no one runs into a cloud after he goes down because they will still kill you, and until they disappear the rezzers will be in combat and unable to rez (except for druids, of course).

Stand behind tank, lay down consecrates when it gets about that time, win.

If you get it you make sure you have aggro, run back like anyone else and drop it away from raid and away from raid in a spot that wont affect the MT's kite path. Bubble acts as a cleanse though you can run. If you are out and slime spawns have MT aoe taunt it then you can come back and pick it up. No way to lessen injections.

According to our MT, there are two ways this happens: there are certain places on the floor where his pathing gets confused, causing a directional hiccup before he starts following the tank again, and he can spray while this happens; also, when he injects someone, he momentarily faces them before turning back, and he can spray when this happens too.
