Problem w/ SpreadsheetFollow

#1 Feb 27 2009 at 6:56 AM Rating: Decent

Hey guys. Fairly new 80 and been trying to gear and get DPS up as best I can. Up until yesterday I was Sub spec and really enjoyed it. Decided to try out Mut spec. Of course at first I was lost bigger than heck but finally think I may have a rotation down.

I am using the Roguecraft spreadsheet and seem to be having problems here. When I fill in my info it says I should be doing 3177 dps. Problem is this, questing the mobs die to fast and recount shows my dps around 1500. I did go to the target dummies and had it show my dps right at 2k. So granted I understand that if the fight is longer then the dps can actually get good numbers due to the DOTs. Still though, it is nowhere near what the spreadsheet says.

My rotation is something to he effect of:

stealth
HFBx3
Garrote
Snd
Mutx4
Env (Refreshing SnD)
Mutx4
Rupture
rinse and repeat keeping HFB up every 29 sec.

armory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Darkspear&n=Mesneak

of course armory shows one of the wrong trinkets for now and also the wrong ranged item. I have Lillehoff's WInged Blades. Is the Spreadsheet that far off? Have I screwed the Spreadsheet up or missing something on it? Is my rotation that far off? WOuld love to pull the +3k dps but right now I am not seeing it.

Sub spec was ALOT more fun but i think this will be more viable for raids and dungeons.

THX!!!

Turn off all the buffs in the Buffs tab that you don't apply yourself. There will be loads of things buffing your DPS ridiculously, because the default spreadsheet settings make it so you're in a totally optimal for rogue dps 25 man raid.

Edit: Your rotation looks off.
stealth
HFBx3
Garrote
Snd
Mutx4 ~~~??? You should only need 2 muts. Your crit on mut is 43%, and ruthlessness chance after freshener is 60%. Only in terribly rare cases would you need 3 muts, but never 4. Max your last point in ruthless
Env (Refreshing SnD)-
Mutx4 ~ again, 2 and very rarely 3 muts are required
Rupture ~ Check out your Rupture damage, then check out your Evis damage. Rupture will probably be marginally higher, but Evis can get crits and also benefits from Sunders, Faerie Fire and Curse of Recklessness. You may want to invest points elsewhere in the tree and drop Blood Spatter.... It's said that 5Env/5R is the best, but I had similar weapons and gear to yours and I was doing higher dps with 5evi/5evi.
rinse and repeat keeping HFB up every 29 sec.

Talents: You can drop Vigor. When I was a fresh 80, I noticed I was doing higher dps by taking Imp. Evis and Quick Recovery or Fleet Footed (depending on how much grinding you do) and using wound/deadly instead of instant/deadly and dropping Improved Poisons.

Weapons: Spend 250g and get two LPCs. Your abil dmg will lower some, but you will see tons more focused attacks and poison procs which will boost your dps a lot.
Before you take any upgrades, plug them into that spreadsheet with ALL the correct parameters.

What weapons are you using?

What shoulders and belt are you using?

What cloak are you using?

What are your profs?

Link to armory?

He linked in the OP.

Be sure to leave any self-buffs that you'll have "on" in the spreadsheet.

The math model is only going to give you a general estimation based on class mechanics and gearing choices, not a precise number that you should expect. There's built in lee-way in the spreadsheet. Best thing is to use actual raid parses for actual DPS analysis.

Cheers
