Question about Dual SpecFollow

I'm not sure I'd be able to take advantage of it yet as I'm not fully sure how I will ultimately spec my dps and tank dual specs, but it was something that crossed my mind anyway

If anyone on the PTR can answer, I am curious if with dual spec the following:

If you have two feral specs, a tank and a dps spec, the tank spec having improved mark of the wild (for the stam/dodge benefit of +2% stats passive as I understand it?), can you swap to the tank spec and buff your 5man group and then swap to the dps spec and maintain the improved buff and only lose the +2% passive part?

With the change of improved mark I might make it a part of both specs, and for whatever reason I might even consider to do it the other way around from what I made an example of here above.

Any info is appreciated.

you know, im not certain about that.

however, i do know that, back in the day when i would spec imp mark as a resto, when i would unspec it the buff would remain on me in its talent-boosted form. extrapolating from that id say that yes, having imp mark in one build and buffing people with it then swapping to the other would retain the talented bonuses.

I would guess yes from that too.

But what makes me question it, is that when I leave a raid or party after getting 1hour fort or something, the buff leaves with the raid/group, unless you're the last one in the group I think. You used to keep the buffs before the expansion but it seems blizzard deemed that inappropriate. That said, I could see something being implemented to prevent this sort of thing and is why I'm asking.

I am not quite sure how dual spec is implemented exactly, but it seems you are under the impression you can change specs as easy as you can change forms. I was under the impression there was either a lexicon/inscriber/inscriber made item needed to change specs and there was a good chance there being a cooldown of some sort.. but we will have to see on the ptr..

I haven't seen anything mentioned about changes to it, so I'm assuming that so far what ghostcrawler's posted (below) is still correct.

Quote:
The Lexicons of Power located in major towns are required to switch specs. Additionally, scribes can create an item that allows a group of players to summon a temporary lexicon of power. The only other restriction (so far) is that specs cannot be swapped in combat or in arenas.

What I find pretty cool that I must have overlooked...

Quote:
A Gear Manager is going to be added into World of Warcraft. This will not automatically change the character’s equipment after a spec change, but will be configurable to quickly change weapons, trinkets, or entire outfits. Sounds like an integrated Outfitter or Itemrack.

If it at all is like a hidden second inventory, a LOT of people are going to suddenly have a free bag.

Yes, I'm more or less under the impression you can change specs as you change forms because the last blue posts I seen on the subject said it was a 5 second out of combat cast to swap specs.

Quote:
With a single 5-second, out of combat cast, players level 40 or higher will instantly be able to swap between two different talent specializations, glyph sets, and action bar set-ups from virtually anywhere in the world.

The exception to this as I understand it, is battlegrounds and arena, where despite your being out of combat, you still can't swap specs.

Indeed, the whole Lexicon deal has been dropped. It will now be a 5s cast out of combat, and out of BG/Arena.

Also on mmo-champ.
Scroll down to "Blue posts" and then look for "Dual Specialization".
