Bad Attitude--bugged?Follow

I noticed something weird with my Hydra when I used her to tank Hakkar in ZG last week--to trigger Bad Attitude I pretty much had to spam-click the button, the same way I used to with Roar of Recovery. I finally got around to double checking today to make sure I wasn't mistaken--Bad Attitude definitely is still on the pet GCD despite having a 1.4 minute CD. (Roar of Recovery, on the other hand, is working perfectly.)

I'm planning on heading out to Sholazar to pick up a regular crocolisk and see if it's just because I have a weird pet, but I thought I'd check in and see if anyone else has been having the same problem? I hadn't heard anything about this bug, so now I'm curious to find out what's going on.

Edit--regular crocs seem to have the same problem, so it's not just the Hydra.

Is the Hydra any good as a pet?

Same stats, abilities, and tree as a Crocolisk, so it depends on what you think of those. Pretty much just a tanking pet, not DPS or PVP oriented.

Also no longer obtainable, and I <3 mine to death.

Wasps are the best dps pet if you don't have Curse of Recklessness/Fairy Fire, otherwise a Raptor/moth is best.

wasps are also THE. MOST. ANNOYING. PETS. EVER. and moths should not be ferocity, they are too cute...
btw: I seem to have seen some calculations about cat/raptor/moth/wasp and dps, but I can't find it ATM - can anyone help? I remember that it also included raid composition and presence/absence of certain classes/debuffs...

Why Moths fall into the Ferocity category:
Tenacity: A moth... well if you touch it's wings it's pretty much dead so nope not a tenacity pet.
Cunning: Yeah, they fly into lightbulbs and flames, they're not very clever nevermind cunning.
Ferocity: They fly into said lightbulb/flame until either the moth or the source of light dies, Ferocity for sure!

Yha I'd also like to see some comparison of the different pets. Never been able to find any hard numbers just people saying "I tested and <insert pet> does the highest dps for me".

Not to be whiny, or, you know, try to hijack this thread... but I would be very much interested to know if anyone else has had the same problem I have, and if there is an obvious cause for it which I have missed.

Aethein posted results of the person who did testing with Wasps coming out on top here a while ago, I'm pretty sure someone from TKA did it.

Unless I'm mistaken, Bad Attitude gives your Hydra a free attack when it's attacked (for 45 seconds) and has a CD of 2min->1.4 for BM hunters. So the mechanics would work like this.

Cast Bad Attitude (it's instant with a CD of 2 min -> no GCD)

For 45 seconds your Hydra will get a free attack at any creature that hits him/her.

Since this is an attack, it triggers the pet's GCD after each retaliatory attack. This way if your pet is tanking multiple mobs, it's not getting free attacks to every creature attacking it.

Why you have to spam the button I am not sure. When you activate the initial "buff" to your pet (kinda like rapid fire) all retaliatory attacks should be automatic, not manual.

If anyone else knows of different mechanics. let me know. I'll do some testing tonight to check if this is indeed working as stated.

To clarify--I don't have to spam the button to trigger the additional attacks, I have to spam click it to trigger the buff in the first place. (This is not the case when I turn my pet's focus dump off, or use Bad Attitude outside of combat when the pet is not actively using the focus dump.)

I am also going to play around with it a little more, I have a lowbie hunter with an extra stable slot so I can check and see if it works normally without Longevity.

edit--nope, Longevity does not seem to have any effect.

AH, then this sound like the TS problem that Gorillas had. To ensure that you got your TS off, you had to turn off the focus dump smack. I will do some testing to see what works best, but right off the top of my head (at work.. man I wish I could install WoW here!) I would say if you are using a 2 button macro (one for SS and one for Kill Command, Rabid) you should be able to implement Bad Attitude in this easily. If you aren't and doing everything manual... I'll have to do some tests.

EDIT: by the bold I meant after the initial TS, to make sure it went off after every CD.

EDIT 2: Did some testing when I got home, and I didn't have to touch Bad Attitude, I have it on autocast and it went off without any issues.

Autocasting works for me too, but I really would prefer to be able to manually trigger it, given the long cooldown I want to be able to have it up when I need it up. Oh well, it will probably be addressed sometime around when 3.1 goes live and people star abandoning their gorilladins in favor of other pet families. :)
