Stam vs AvoidanceFollow

There's several threads all over the internet about this but I just had a couple more specific questions and value the input of alla's members.

1) On specific fights such as OS+3 10 man, how much avoidance is ok to sacrifice via gems and enchants in order to completely buff stamina (health) as high as possible?

2) On non-specific fights is the same aforementioned stamina set going to be adequate for tanking in heroic raids or will it be too burdening for the healers?

3) Is it possible to have 2 sets of the same T7.5 gemmed and enchanted differently? And should I be looking into this to be able to fulfil 1) and 2) ?

As it stands right now I am just over 34k health by myself in Bear form, 44k raid buffed with 40% dodge and 35k armor (69% reduction) -- I'm working up my jewelcrafting so I can get 3 dragon's eye prismatic gems as well as the 62 Stam +2 sockets +300 dodge on use trinket for even higher hp values. I figure with some luck in the following weeks of 25 naxx I can put myself at about 38k health by myself and close to 50k hp buffed.

Is that enough or too much and where's the cutoff?

Yes.

Here is an excellent blog post about gearing your bear for this fight. linky

Just about removes the need for external cool downs to survive.

Forgot to mention.

That fight is very gimmicky. The levels of avoidance are not that important as you can't dodge his fire breath.

In general for raiding and heroics having a crazy level of health just makes you a mana sponge. Avoidance is way more important making the S+3 set not ideal.

Here is the generic S+3 jerks thread. Lots of good reading. Has gearing methods for both FR and external cooldowns.

If you have a skilled Warlock, you could always try using a Voidwalker to tank Sartharion :) 75k hp and 80% chance to avoid the fire breath is nothing to sneeze at.

There in lies the problem. Our good warlocks aren't able to raid lately.

@Paracleets:
1) Are you the Sarth-MT?? Then as much hp as possible. ;-D
I am MT the last 3 weeks now on our sarth + 3 trys (25 version).
And i can only recommend that u get some fire-resist-gear.
Fully buffed i am at 49k hp, 27k armor and 416 fire-resist. (kitty-spec)
I can survive almost all breathes with my own cooldowns until the debuff is gone.
(barkskin, survival instincts for 2, fire-prot-potion, barskin)
Aggro-generation = 0 but i dont need much, cause i have time through 2 drakes to built up aggro, so who cares :-D

2-3)
Yes u can have T7.5 more than once with different sockels. (i have 3 parts 3 times -> DD/Mitigation/HP).
I like to run with a mix of mitigation and hp (my chest is fully HP socketed, all other AGI + dodge/stam).
I also run with 2 HP-Trinkets (essence of gosamer and the alchi-stone).

I'm at about 46-47k hp raidbuffed with around 30k armor.
The low armor comes because im kitty-talented all the time.
My healers are at a lvl where they dont even notice the difference.

I didnt skill "Thick Hide" so there is a loss of about 3k armor,
i dont have natural reaction (-6% dodge) and no Infected Wounds (but this is applied by our DK most of the time).
The only tanking ability i skilled is "Prot. of the Pack" cause 12% damage-reduction is a must-have :-D

I also lost about 2k armor, cause i swapped my rings, neck and cloak for items with no armor but +HIT or expertise.
Cause currently i need every amount of aggro i can get at beginning of a boss-fight.
When your DDs start doing over 5k DPS u need to be fast in aggro.

And if u are an Add-Tank at Sarth+3 u will want as much aggro as possible.
One miss of maul can be very bad when your raid is waiting for the first dragon to land and hero is already running!

So as you progress, i think u can choose a little less mitigation for aggro and or hp. But u have to figure it out for yourself.

Hope this helped u a bit
