Why does everyone ignore silent resolve? I would think that it would make it significantly less likely that you would aggro.

It's not a matter of its function, rather of its need. It is generally accepted that MT threat generation at this time is so high that you should not need to put points in this talent.

Do you ever aggro anyway? At all?

That's why.

I PUG a lot, so I keep points in silent resolve (3/3 now, I think I may try 1/3 in 3.1). If you have a great tank, you don't need it.

Even with terrible tanks, I rarely ever pull aggro, and if I do, it's because I cast a spell before the tank hit the mob at all. SR won't help you there. Wasted points, imo.

Agreed. Use fade instead if you happen to catch threat.

Actually I've found having that little bit of aoe threat is realy quite nice for controlling adds on certain fights. Sarth with drakes is a good example. If you have a priest that can pull healing aggro over your resto shaman then you can herd the spawning adds close to a waiting tank and fade them off before you get hit. Certainly saves getting a druid or shaman healer raped by adds before your tank reacts.

And Unbreakable Will is pretty decent when fighting Maexxna.

You're right, nearly none of our talents are completely useless (lightwell *whistles*), but it's not really worth it speccing for niches. But aye, glad you pointed it out anyway.

If you're having that sort of situation, mothra, I recommend a paladin with Divine Fury on. It's the strategy my guild used for Morogrim back in SSC, and on various occassions since. It helps that paladins have, like, eight times our armor.

Lol, I'm saying its a good thing. Paladins might have 8 times our armor but they'll still die in a heartbeat if they take that many mobs. They don't get to instantly shed all aggro when it suits them like we do.
