Obliterate - To Hit, or not to HitFollow

Stupid question that after searching I obviously missed the answer to, but...

Does anyone know, for sure and for fact, which hit rating Obliterate uses? I'm showing a greater percentage of misses on Oblit than on Swing ("white" melee) which I can't seem to figure out. My guess is that it's using spell hit rather than melee hit which from my napkin math would approximately explain it but wanted to see if anyone had some facts to back up my supposition.

Never really noticed it before but now that we're starting to min/max for Ulduar I went looking through some WWS and there it was: 2.9% miss compared to 1.2% (respectively).

Thanks in advance, links to proofs, etc greatly appreciated.

=)

it uses special attack hit. Have 8% hit and your oblit will never miss.

You don't use Obliterate as often as you use Auto-Attack, so it's more likely to be different from the hit chance you're supposed to have. Normal attacks with a 2H have the same hit requirement as special attacks, 8%.

Confucius say: Small sample size lead to small brain. And small *****.

It uses normal melee hit.

Sample size wins.

I went over a whole month of parses and it averages out. Thanks for the responses, I thought I had gone more insane suddenly or something!

Also, anyone notice the mega-ton of expertise in t7-ish gear? I'm swimming in it and find myself hit starved keeping my 4 piece (at least until I get the gloves)..... grrr!

Thanks again.
