Hit cap w/o raidingFollow

I am not 100% sure, more like 95% sure that you can get hit capped before ever stepping foot into a raid.

As a shadow priest, you only need 289 hit rating with Shadow Focus and Misery, that shouldn't be that hard to obtain. My shaman(who needed 342 hit to be capped) was able to get that mostly through some non-armor specific gear(trinket, cloak) and from enchants and gems.

A trinket in HVH gives 73 hit, cloak from Ebon Blade rep another 29, hand enchant 20 hit, icewalker-boots is 12 hit, accuracy 25 hit. Rigid Autumn's Glow gems are 16 hit, and if you are a JC you can get the rigid dragon's eye for 27 hit.

An since I know there is a hell of a lot more +hit cloth armor than there is +hit caster mail gear, yeah 95% sure hit can be capped before going into raids.

The ebonweave set which is crafted by tailors and is BOE along with the hat of wintry doom which is also BOE provides a nice amount of +hit.

Glove Enchant +20 Hit
Boots Enchant +12 Hit

This already gives you 195 Hit without any +16 Hit Gems.

and if you don't count heroics as raiding and can get in a few of those you can champion Kirin Tor rep for a nice Dagger with hit on

to go with it with your 25 emblems you will have by the time your rep gets that high.

This now brings you to 267 so you are only 22 hit short of the cap (or slightly more depending on your talents) Assuming you have other gear with hit on you may already be capped after this or a couple of gems will sort it.

Rigid Autumns Glow (yellow) gives +16 hit
Veiled Monarch Topaz (orange) gives +9SP and +8 Hit

The orange gem can go in the red socket on the hat of wintry doom and all you need is a socket on your belt (eternium buckle made by blacksmiths adds a socket that takes any colour or a prismatic gem) for your yellow gem (assuming it won't fit elsewhere)and bobs your uncle.
