Hello all, I have some free time coming up and I am going to try a new-ish character. I have a 43 Boomkin and a 41 Frost Mage but am at a loss as to which to play. I am leaning towards to mage, as I have always wanted a good one. I guess I am asking you guys/gals which you think would be able to solo better. More importantly, which one would be able to handle 2 or 3 man quest elites better, as that is most often the hardest about leveling. This is going to be a character I can just 'enjoy' and solo with. No raiding, and probably no pvp until after 70. Gear wise, I have a max tailor and a 400LW(my wife's) so I can craft or buy whatever is needed for them.
What do you think?

BOOMKIN!!

But seriously, they're both great classes. Boomkins are usually considered to bring more utility, but mages bring higher DPS. That is not to say that boomkins put out low DPS by any means, but if a similarly geared mage is DPSing too, the mage will win out. I personally find druids in general more fun, but I once had a mage up to 60 in Vanilla WoW. Some of the most fun I've ever had :D But druids will be able to solo better than a mage.

Just cause I'm on the mage forum doesn't mean I have to like them the most!

Find a dark place. Close your eyes and envision yourself weaving magic to destroy your foes. In about an hour when the insanity kicks in, then you'll know.

Another quick question. As far as chills and roots go, which do you guys feel do elites have more resists to? I was always under the impression that more elites were immune to chill(which is the main reason I am hesistant to level my mage solo), but a friend in game told me his mage rarely runs into chill immune quest elites at all anymore(he is level 73 now so still questing).

I actually find it to be pretty equal. That said, Outland levels are a dark time for both as few elites for quests are snareable or rootable.

I have both 80 druid & 72 frost mage

I'm sorry to say I have more fun with druid but that just my personal opinion.

Don't get me wrong frost can be alots of fun but I just find easier to solo and level with druid imo.

Thanks for the replies, I think I will give them both a couple levels trial as I am still pretty torn and see how it goes.

the raw power of an arcane mage > all ... that being said, I have alot of fun with mage even when I was casting and that was before the update to arcane I love playing a mage, killing things in 2-3 spells is fun now I can do that same thing in 1-3 spells (arcane blast x 2 and an arcane barrage can finish off most quest mobs/ players :P)
