they've buffed furious howl. I'm actually pretty happy about this. This might make my ghost wolf quite viable in a raid. It stacks with everything, but now only affects the hunter and his pet. before it didn't stack with the other AP buffs, so sucked.

Ooh, it stacks now? I just read about it no longer affecting the party, if it stacks now though, this is definitely more of a buff than a nerf, especially for BM given the importance of AP. :)

The following has shown up on mmo-champion's undocumented changes:

Quote:
Thunderstomp (Gorilla) has been removed as a pet skill and replaced by Pummel - Pummel the target, interrupting spellcasting and preventing any spell in that school from being cast for 4 sec. (20 Focus, 5 yd range, Instant, 10 sec cooldown)
Thunderstomp is now a pet talent available to any Tenacity pet. Now your bears, crocs or ESPECIALLY CRABS can join in the AE tanking fun.
Savage Rend (Raptor) now temporarily boost the raptor's damage by 10% for 30 seconds.
Furious Howl (Wolf) now only affects the wolf and its master, duration increased from 10 to 20 seconds.

It's currently 316 AP that lasts 20 seconds with a 40 second CD

This is on average of course, the same as the old one (aside from the stacking), the explanation given on the boards was that they wanted to make it more interesting. Line up CD's and the like, rather then it just being a constant buff.

I should note, I noticed that it's currently bugged so it doesn't give you AP, only the bet gets the buff.

Could I personally say. That looks AWESOME!!!!

Now all I have to do is go tame a level 80 tenacity pet instead of leveling this stupid gorilla, I don't know It may be level 80 by the time patch 3.1 comes out.

In terms of PvP/Arena and Imp. WC being removed, a note was released today regarding a new Raptor Strike glyph and the current Aspect of the Monkey glyph:

MMO-Champion wrote:

[...]
Glyph of the Monkey -- While Aspect of the Monkey or Aspect of the Dragonhawk are active, each time you dodge you gain 30% increased movement speed for 6 sec. Can only occur every 20 sec. This speed does not stack with other movement speed increasing effects. (Old: Glyph of Aspect of the Monkey -- While Aspect of the Monkey or Aspect of the Dragonhawk are active, each time you dodge you gain 30% increased movement speed for 6 sec. This speed does not stack with other movement speed increasing effects.)
[...]
Glyph of Raptor Strike *new* -- For 5 sec. after using Raptor Strike, you take 20% less damage.

Those two alone, for dedicated PvP Hunters, is a great addition in return for losing Imp. WC (IMO).

Call me silly, stupid or whatever but man, this is the stuff that really wrecks it for me. I am a hunter IRL and part of the class that appealed to me was the pets. Having a unique pet that was hard to come by and had unique talents is part of the appeal. I still believe that rares should have unique skins and skill sets. I remember wasting 3 months of my life camping Snarler for his resists, or the solo-tame in BRM to get the color-changing worg. This is yet another "lets paint my cube red instead of blue" fix. Thunderstomp was an ability that should have remained with gorillidins.

On a lighter note, at least my ghost croc now gets it!... wait... I'm actually upset about that. I know, let's trash all the different trees of pets and give them 3 different trees like players!

(note the Sarcasm in this post- just in case you missed some)

Hmm...not sure how I feel about the longer cooldown for my wolfie. It sounds like it will average out to about the same? Weird choice, I guess they just didn't want wolves to get too popular... /shrug

Of course worms will have it, and it will be called Thunderstomp, just like for any other Tenacity pet. Smiley: rolleyes

Latest hunter notes:

• Ammunition: All types of gun and bow ammunition now stack to 1000. All quivers and ammo pouches no longer provide haste. 15% ranged haste is now built in to Hunter Autoshot.
• Call Stabled Pet: This new ability lets the hunter remotely access the stable. 30 min cooldown.
• Cunning, Ferocity and Tenacity pets now all have +5% damage, +5% armor and +5% health bonuses. This should make more pet families feel viable, while additional talents have been added to distinguish a pet’s abilities based on its specializations.
• Disengage: Cooldown increased by 5 sec.
• Frost Trap: If the target who triggers Frost Trap is immune to its effect, the Frost Trap area effect will no longer be triggered.
• Pets now inherit more spell hit from the hunter. Pets with magic attacks should not require a player to stack additional hit compared to pets with physical attacks.
• Viper Sting re-designed: Stings the target, draining 4% of mana over 8 sec (up to a maximum of 8% of the caster's maximum mana), and energizing the Hunter equal to 300% of the amount drained. Only one Sting per Hunter can be active on any one target.

• Talents

- Beast Mastery

• Improved Aspect of the Hawk now has a new spell effect.
• Improved Wing Clip: This talent has been removed.

- Marksmanship

• Piercing Shots re-designed: Your critical Aimed, Steady and Chimera Shots cause the target to bleed for 10/20/30% of the damage dealt over 8 sec.
• Ranged Weapon Specialization: Points reduced from 5 to 3, 1/3/5%.
• Wild Quiver: Chance increased to 4/8/12%, up from 4/7/10%. Damage increased from 50% of an auto shot, to 80%.

- Survival

• Explosive Shot: Base damage lowered by 10%. Attack power scaling reduced by 12.5%.
• Hunting Party: This talent has been reduced to 3-points, and now increases your total Agility by an additional 1/2/3%.
• Lock and Load re-designed: You now have a 33/66/100% chance when you trap a target with Freezing Trap, Freezing Arrow or Frost Trap and a 2/4/6% chance when you deal periodic damage with your Immolation Trap or Black Arrow to cause your next 2 Arcane Shot or Explosive Shot spells to trigger no cooldown, cost no mana and consume no ammo. This now has a new spell effect and sound.
• New Talent: Black Arrow: Fires a Black Arrow at the target, increasing all damage done by you to the target by 6% and doing periodic shadow damage for 15 sec. 30 sec. cooldown.
• T.N.T. re-designed: Increases the damage done by your Explosive Shot, Explosive Trap and Immolation Trap by 2/4/6%.Trap Mastery: This talent has been moved to tier-2, up from tier-9.
• Wyvern Sting duration increased from 12 sec to 30 sec. PvP duration reduced from 10 sec to 6 sec.

• Pets

• Bullheaded now adds 20% damage reduction for 12 sec along with its current CC-removal effect.
• Cornered: The crit reduction when this ability is active has been increased.
• Feeding Frenzy increased to 8/16% damage up from 6/12%.
• Furious Howl (wolf special ability) now stacks with Battle Shout and Blessing of Might, however, it only affects the wolf and hunter. Its effect and cooldown have been doubled so that it provides the same benefit but isn’t up 100% of the time.
• Gorillas now have a new family ability, Pummel, which works like the warrior ability and has a single rank.
• Grace of the Mantis and Roar of Sacrifice are now also available to Cunning pets.
• New Talent: Shark Attack: This new two-rank talent is available to Ferocity pets. It increases pet damage.
• New Talent: Silverback: This new two-rank talent is available to Tenacity pets. It heals the pet when Growl is used.
• New Talent: Wild Hunt: This new two-rank talent is available to all 3 pet trees. It increases the stamina and attack power inherited from the hunter.
• Roar of Recovery cooldown decreased to 3 min, down from 6 min.
• Roar of Sacrifice can be used on the hunter only.
• Stampede (rhino) only affects 1 target, but adds a 25% bleed damage debuff (that does not stack with Mangle etc.) in addition to its knockback.
• Thunderstomp is no longer a gorilla-specific family ability and is now available to all Tenacity pets. It has been reduced to one rank.

ummm... me be afraida?
does it mean that it doesn't affect steady now and even BM hunters will need to stack some haste (MM&SV - soft-cap is higher?)

It might, although it might mean they're about to change the way SS works.

I'm seeing the ES nerf as a pvp one. I do good damage in pve but I'm not blowing people away.

I'd guess RP has the right idea, just from comments that GC was making about scaling around the initial nerf/buff to hunters when 50/21 was killed.

• Viper Sting re-designed: Stings the target, draining 4% of mana over 8 sec (up to a maximum of 8% of the caster's maximum mana), and energizing the Hunter equal to 300% of the amount drained. Only one Sting per Hunter can be active on any one target.

That's cool. I'm assuming energizing means we gain mana? I wonder if they'll change chimera then, as this native effect is better to the on hit effect.

The new viper sting will make going into AotV obscelete against any boss with mana. Any boss with 100k or more mana (50k or more with enough AP to get 8%) will fill a 15k mana pool to full with only 8 seconds of a non-dmg sting. Beats the hell out of the 60% dmg reduction of AotV.

Which I find freaking awesome.

(and yes I realize that in 25 mans no one really has trouble with mana regen but I raid in 10 mans and blizz has stated already they think mana regen is too high and that they are taking steps to reduce it)

Euhm, you seem to have no clue how Viper will work...

Assuming I have 10k mana, and my target (a player) also has 10k mana.
My sting will drain 400 mana over 8 seconds. (10.000 x 0.04 = 400)
And return 1.2k mana to me. (400 x 3 = 1200)

When my target is a raidboss with 0.5 million mana I would drain 20k mana over 8 seconds. (500.000 x 0.04 = 20.000)
However it is maxed at 8% of my mana, so I'll drain 800 mana (10.000 x 0.08 = 800) and return 2.4k to me.

So hunters finally doing well in Arena, and they decide to make them obselete by nerfing their two most powerful tools, explosive shot and viper sting. The explosive shot change i understand but i think the reduction is a little too much, and the viper sting change is absolutley retarded, and means we can no longer easily drain a targets mana. Blizzard sucks, they build us up then shoot us down even further than we were before.

Hunters are pretty freaking ridiculous in Arenas if you know what you're doing. They're also ridiculous if you don't know what you're doing.

At 2150, I have seen;

a) Hunter/RShaman using Windfury Totem.
b) Hunters without Explosive Shot trained past R1.
c) Hunters who did not use Aimed Shot.
d) Hunters who would use Frozen Arrow on -me- while lighting me up (also Scatter and Repent from the Paladin partner).

The sad part is some of these teams still win just by facerolling all over the keyboard. I armoried the Hunter with R1 Explosive shot a few days later and he was up to 2300ish.

Does anyone remember Blizzard saying they wanted to buff us in pvp and the arenas a while back?
