Darkmoon Card: DeathFollow

#1 Feb 22 2009 at 6:08 PM Rating: Default
I have the undeath deck sitting in my bank.

I'm wondering if I should switch it for for my vestigae of haldor. Here is what the deck rewards.

Darmoon Card: Death

I'm hesitant because the alledgly it has a 45 second internal cooldown but then other people argue it has no cooldown. On that slim chance it does have a 45 second cooldown then it is the same as my vestige of haldor except my vestige hits much harder. Not to mention I will have to pick up 30 haste somewhere if I drop the vestige.

The reason I'm putting so much thought and research in it is because if I don't really need it for my hunter I'm going to send it to my paladin.

I'm having a problem coming to a conclusion on my own. Thank-you for any help.

It's not a slim chance; it DOES have a 45 second internal cooldown.

Conclusion from wowhead:
Quote:
I did some testing with the card tonight, and can confirm the following

1. The proc is on a 45 second internal cooldown.

2. It has a high % proc (the purported 35% would seem about right) since it would almost immediately proc at the start and every 45-46 seconds after that in my Frostfire spec (a lot of DoTs)

3. The damage is not in any way affected by your spellpower, and is affected by your critical strike rate (on vanilla or shadow damage)

My testing was as a Frostfire spec, and in each test, of a little over 2 minutes (1 mana bar), it had 3 procs. My critical strike % was 35% on vanilla damage, and the procs were 1 crit and 2 hit each time. Hit for average 850, and crit 1400, which would agree with the base 50% crit damage modifier plus some extra from the Meta gem.

With ignite, Living Bomb, Pyroblast, DoT there are a lot of individual damaging hits, so it's a "reliable" 1k per 45-46 seconds proc.

Conclusion : the proc is worth about 25dps, which is probably worse than all the other procs from epic trinkets available to spellcasters, and the static is equal at best, but more likely inferior to them (Embrace of the Spider, Sundial, Necromatic). It is probably equivalent to the Blue trinket from Oculus heroic.

It's about on par with your current trinket, which as a 15% chance to activate and a 45 second internal cooldown as well. Personally I would go for some other trinket that increases your AP or something. Then again, I don't know that much about hunters :-P

Alright I suppose I will sell it then. Bought it for 800g I wonder if I can get a 1k off of it.
