What is the best 60 PvP set vs drops/AH?Follow

Hi all. I am at that point. I am at 58..almost at the honor cap...and marks keep getting deleted because I see nothing useful to buy/am afraid of making a bad early choice on 60 gear.

I am waiting on my friend to catch up to me and will probably spend quite a while at 60 on my Ret-Pally waiting on him. We both have cross-faction mains and we usually play those/raid on those.

I would like some advice from some other paladins who have some experience with the item-sets as to 'which is the best' overall choice to buy. While I would love to equip my Belf in the warlord's blood-red set...it doesn't seem to stand up to the Avenger's set in stats....yet the Avenger's set looks horrible to me. {Power-Ranger....Hoooooo!!!} I would really appreciate hearing from some of you who have these sets and your experiences and thoughts regarding them. I will also most likely go with the Warlord's 2H sword as well...even though the Grand-Marshal's looks simply awesome. I mention that also in case anyone wishes to comment on that/give any advice.

Currently I only have 5 points in Protection with the remaining ones in Retribution. My professions are BS & Engineering {Gnomish} and both are at 300.

Thanks in advance!

Avenger's is a raid/rep set, I highly doubt you'd be getting that in today's game. And PvP sets don't drop (exception being Archavon, but that's not the topic here). So, unless you're just wanting the best set overall, I really don't see you having much of a choice.

The Grand Marshal/High Warlord sets are still for sale for honor and PvP marks. And if you're already honor and mark capped, you could go ahead and get them.

I just think you'll be trading them out for Outland blues too quickly to be worth it.

Thanks to both of you for your responses Maulgak & Echcks.

I found out almost as soon as I posted this that I had been mistaken that the Avenger's set was Honor/marks purchased. The website I 1st saw it at didn't list it as a raid set and it was listed alongside the other honor/marks purchased sets, so I assumed....LOL

Anyway...that leaves me with the Warlord's Aegis set. No choice there really.

*****@Ehcks {if you come back to this thread} Is there any reason why you think that the outland greens/blues would be so much better than the set at 60? Keep in mind I said I was going to be parking at 60 and spending a pretty good while waiting on a friend of mine to 'catch up' to me. the only viable things I can really see in the beginning quests in outlands that will not level me past 60 are to do Ramps to get to BF to get the quests for the Breastplate of Retribution & Perfectly Balanced Cape.

Are there any other quests I could do 'before' level 61 that would net me better gear than the Warlord's Aegis set for PvP?

As before thanks ahead of time for any help.

Well, if you're only concern is PvP, and you'll be sitting at 60 for a while, then I guess the Warlord's stuff would be a worthy goal to go for. Why people, including Ehcks in this thread, say that the early Outland stuff will replace even level 60 epics is simple: the item budget for these items was so much higher than pretty much all but the highest quality raids items in original WoW content. When BC launched, people were replacing their hard earned raid/PvP epics with the first quests in Hellfire Peninsula, or at the very least, into Terrokar. I think the only gear people were still using for the first BC raids was Tier 3 and the original Naxx stuff.

But again, if you've got a lot of time to spend gaining this gear and want to be the best in PvP you can while your friend catches up, I don't see the harm in getting the Warlord's gear. Just know that when you do start to level again past 60, the gear you get early on in Outlands will very likely help you level faster then that PvP gear due to its superior stats. It'll lack somewhat as PvP gear, but if you're leveling again, that won't matter.
