New Mage looking for helpFollow

Hi, I am a player for the horde in Chromagus and was woundering how in the world do you make an Ica/Arcane Mage.

I am level ten right now but dont know how to place talents.

My only point in talents is in the arcane missles.

The name of my character if u want to contact in game is Freezerex.

And i would appreciat also help for armor tips thank you and half a wounderfull day.

I can only agree that you need to read up a bit first , and why go arcane talents first ? the frost / arcane spec is more for end game as you will lose a lot of damage at low levels , my advice is read up and only spec arcane/frost at end game .

I would say if you want a reasonable spec to level with go fire or frost but from what people say not arcane at low levels , first talents i would do if you go frost is get the improved frostbolts as fast as possible then take anything that does more damage or slows mobs or increases your crit for your survivability.

At low levels 1-20 a Mage needs to do as much damage as possible and armour/weapons should be intellect ( out of mana=dead ) and stamina ( at least mobs can hit you a bit without doing the ghost run ) based at first , then when you can find some gear at level 20+ get some +spellpower if possible as it will help you kill faster , in the frost tree there are talents that increase your crit ( up to double damage has to be good ) so not so needed in gear at lower levels , at level 30-35 you will be hit a lot less if you have gone frost as the spells/talents and decent gear fall into place and you learn how to freeze mobs and get back to distance.

Can someone literate with Ala forums let me know how to do the links where it will show the item on mousover. I have edited the above post about 40 times trying to get it right. Either 1) it's been too long since I did it 2) It works different on a Mac for some reason 3) I'm an idiot.

Okay, well complaining about forum mechanics aside... Get the leg armor (and 4 netherweave bags)... it'll make your life soooo much easier leveling. Personally, I leveled as deep frost. The ability to slow targets and kill them before they get to you, then having the extra health will greatly improve your leveling experience.

The Outland version(for a caster, spellthread instead of leg armor, IMO) can be applied to a piece of BoE gear by a level 60+ and then the gear can be given to someone else. The Northrend versions don't allow this, iirc.

Can I just ask a question while we're on the topic of frost for levelling and controlling mobs...

My (admittedly still quite low) level 26 mage has been pure frost for a few levels and I'm finding it a little frustrating... If I frost nova a mob, and then strafe away to get some distance, frost nova has expired by the time I'm halfway through my first frostbolt. The end result is that I have gone to a lot of effort to buy myself only a very small amount of time....

What am I doing wrong, or is the nature of frost nova?

You can always blink away as well. You don't have to run to max distance.

Also don't forget to also toss in a fireblast as soon as you release the frostbolt to get a little more oomph.

If you look at the +10 AGI and think that has anything to do with why you put it on.... well... It's the 30 stam that I get from the armor kit. The spell thread (even the epic) doesn't have as much +Stam and when leveling, if you get that on your legs, you don't have to worry about dying at all before lvl 20... even after that, you don't have to look for "of the eagle" gear, you can go for straight +int gear.

Best way to level IMO.

Just browsed through it. The basics are fine but the raiding tips are outdated for the most part. I really do not notice much more information (if any) than what our posts have or links to. Also not a big fan of the embedded links that the website has.

Overall decent, but I don't think it is very necessary past what we already have here.
